Title: Absorkee Quivers
Post by: stujay on August 15, 2014, 09:38:00 PM
Those that have one of Tim's absorkee quivers which model, short trail, absorkee, emigrant do you favor and why? Thinking of ordering one; what do you see as the strong/weak points of each?

I have the Absorkee. I bought it when I switched to tradition archery. I am pleased with the choice. Quality is excellent. I think how much you like it will depend on if that style of quiver is right for you.

When not in heavy cover I hardly know its there. You will have to maneuver a little in heavy cover. It is super easy to put on or take off.

I like to throw my business toward the small cottage guys and found Tim helpful answering any questions.

I have the Absorkee, but, admittedly, have never tried the others.

I hunt with a pack a lot and really hate the unbalanced feel a bow quiver causes.  Absorkee is one of the best, if not the best designs out there.

You won't be disappointed.

Not using the Absorkee since I already had a Kwikee Kwiver lying around, so just ordered a hip bracket from Tim. Fit and finish is top notch. While I like the utility of the Kwikee Kwiver, I will admit feeling some buyer's remorse when looking at the Absorkee model that Tim offers.

I will second what threeunder said in that the Farr West/Baker hip quiver design lends itself very easily to hunting with a pack.

I have the Absorkee too, and have only used it at the range practicing , great quality!  It rides on belt nicely. Will put it to use next weekend for deer season , I missed opening weekend due to company.  At least I got to introduce my sons girlfriend to archery , she had a blast shooting in the backyard.

I have the short trail. (The slimmer of the quivers). LOVE it!
Rides better than any other non bow quiver I've tried.  Like most guys I've been searching for my perfect quiver and this is the best I've found.

Stuart,
Aside from a small weight factor, more on that in a minute, the real difference between them is the amount arrows you can carry.
When I came out with the Absorkee Quiver, the 5 arrow model, I had friends that complained not enough arrows, and so the Emigrant came about, dedicated pocket for a judo point. For some guysq that is still not enough!  On the other side of that is the minimalist crowd,  that likes fewer arrows, this is where I kind of fit in, and so the Short Trail happened!  So really it depends on what you prefer to carry while hunting.
The weight factor, I've always believed that if a guy is going to do something it should be done right and with high quality. The quivers are built to take abuse and last. When placed on your belt, or pack, the quiver goes on doing its job virtually unnoticed. For those that prefer not to have the added weight of a quiver on a bow, don't like added straps around your neck, and those that don't want the added movement of a back quiver, the Absorkee quiver is a great option, picking one is just a matter of your style of hunting!
Thanks!

Yep!  Sometimes we buy things and regret it. Sometimes we buy something, try it, and give it an "Amen!"
