I just ordered a new Acadian Woods Tree Stick and since I like darker bows, Tim suggested wenge for the riser.
Does anyone here have any pictures of a bow with a wenge riser I could see?? I can't recall ever seeing one.
Should be a very nice looking bow though. Wenge riser with bamboo core and red elm belly and back. 60" AMO, 57# @ 29.5"
Tim Mullins is a hellava nice guy to talk and deal with also. He comes across as if you've known him your whole life. I have one of his Tree Stick, I bought a while back, and that purty thing is awesome.

It'll be a while before delivery, but one thing is sure, it'll be worth the wait. ;)
If anyone can post or send me some pictures of some bows with wenge in it, I'd appreciate it. :help:
Thanks, Mike :campfire:
Do a search here for wenge.
There are a few topics on it.
It's dark, and pretty heavy.
Makes a nice wood if the pores are filled, but working with it, frankly, sucks.
insttech1 got it right...working it sucks!!!
T^T^T^
Anybody??
This one is zebrawood and wenge. A little accent of cocobolo between maple. It is kinda hard to fill the grain in wenge, but I think it is beautiful wood.

Wenge in the grip area.

To me, wenge is not the featured attraction. It's a quiet, chocolate wood that sets the stage for something else to shine. Here's bocote and wenge. You hardly notice the wenge, but it sure does nice things for the bocote.

I've got some pictures at work of a beautiful Wenge bow I saw on E-bay a month or two ago. I'll try to remember to bring them home and post them tomorrow.
I've seen some Wenge with some pretty nice grain figure to it, dark brown with even darker brown streaks. Looks fantastic.
From what I've read about it though it can be some pretty wicked stuff to work with, splinters easily when shaping and sanding.
Ziracote would be another dark wood to look at or maCassor Ebony.I really liked the Ziracote for a dark wood on a RER Arroya I had.Just a thought.
As Bodork mention Wenge grain can be a bare to fill in. But done right it is a very beautiful dark wood.

Here are some pics of a Wenge and Cocobolo Fedora I copied of an E-bay auction a couple months ago. Nice figure on the Wenge.
