Whatcha got?
By far Petzl Tikka.
COAST HL7
I have a Fenix PD30 flashlight and have the headstrap from Fenix for it and it is AWESOME!!
Princeton Tec "FUEL" really lights up the night! I also had one out by Browning that you could coon hunt with when on bright but it didn't have a good headband but would go on a had brim but I rarely hunt with a hard brim hat. Just make sure you get one that runs on AAA and not watch batteries! Princeton Tec has several models, I also have the "Remix", it has a spotlight mode but I wasn't super impressed with it but it is slightly better at distance than the " Fuel " , some of their models come in the two varieties regular batteries and watch batteries so make sure if what your buying.
Zebralight H502c
Black Diamond. Not sure of the model, but it puts out 100 lumens. I have been very happy with it!
A petzl i found and have used for 5-6 years.
Energizer from Home Depot. $15. 100 lumens.
Black Diamond Spot. Light, 3 AAAs, Red light feature, flood and spot light options that can be dimmed. I have had the Petzl Tikka but didn't seem very bright and very little features though light in weight. Also have a fenix that is like a spotlight with rear battery pack, but I use it duckin. Way to heavy for the mountains. Energizer puts out a good cheap one as well that I think did well with reviews. I have one of those as well and it is backup #2 in the truck.
I haven't found one yet that I really like... yet. It looks like that is the next trend in lights and they are putting out better and brighter ones. I bought my dad one of the Energizer ones and he likes it. Bushnell also put out a couple I would like to try.
The clip on cap lights for about $5 works for me.
mine is an energizer i think from wally world. hi med and low beam and the red thing that i dont use 20$ or so
Princeton Tec EOS Bike that is also the headlight to my bicycle. I added the optional headstrap.

I use this almost every night when I close up the barn and chicken coops after dark.

Zebralight headlamp is awesome and I also have a fenix pd30ue both are awesome lights.
Huskema Optics is the best I've seen. Princeton Tec make good lamps.
It is a Black Diamond something or other-and it works great!
zebralight
I got an ATOM head light
When I replaced the batteries I got the wrong size (thicker disc battery)
It is twice as bright as it was
Like a mini spot light
I also like the big box ones with the white and red LED's
I've owned 4 Petzls and they all left me a bit disappointed.
I've owned 3 Princeton Tec headlamps and each one impresses me. My two favorites are the PT EOS and the REMIX. I used the REMIX on a recent Hawaiian hunt. I ran it every morning on the pre-dawn hike into the hills...ten days straight...same batteries. Those are the same batteries which powered it for 12 days in Alaska last September. Just a phenomenal bright usable light with great ergonomics and simplicity.
PETZL all the way!!!

Steve, does the Zebra throw a spot or more of a flood type beam ??
I would prefer a spot, which one of their models should I look at ??
Black Diamond Icon best for my money.
Energizer.
Cheap Energizer for me but I also carry a Fenix PD32 Ultimate in the pocket. I use the headlamp mainly for dressing deer at night.
Rayovac. High/low beam. Three triple A batteries. Very bright.
Lots of great suggestions. Thanks.
I have a Petzl Tikka 2 right now. I like that it takes 3 AAA batteries and it's comfy, but I would like something even brighter...i think it is 40 lumens. After a quick check they have a newer, comparable model that is 80 lumens.
I'll have to check som others out as well

Jeff--I dislike carrying extra batteries of all kinds. Many of my hunts preclude stops back at the local store so I have been on a quest for years to find stuff that uses AA batteries only. I can carry one spare set for all my stuff. I may even be going to a full size SLR camera because it can use AA batteries! Also tring to figure out a bear fence as well. No AAA, no CR123, no 18650, no Cs or Ds, no special camera batteries. All my electronics on the AAs and one set of spares, not 4 or 5.
Pat, just stay away from the Zebralight "floody" designation. All the rest have a very nice beam. I guess you would classify it as a spot but it diffused out nicely. I have one of the very first ones and it is definitely it a floody. I keep it around for reading at night in camp and for emergencies. It is bulletproof.
I just got a Fenix HL30 in the mail today. I am hoping that is going to be a big winner. 2 AAs, a small separate red led and a nice white 3 step led that goes up to 200 lumens I believe.
I have several of the Fenix HL 10 or 20's, don't remember. At any rate they take a single AA.. Great lights.. Lots of throw and light and comfortable on your noggin..
I also have one of the models that takes 2AA's, it's too much of a flood type beam for me.
In addition I've been using the new model Fenix that looks a lot like a Zebra and it takes a single 123.. Great light, but once again, the beam is too difused for my liking...
I haven't seen anyone mention a terra lux. They make a great head lamp. 500 or so lumen on the high end. I think it was about 50 bucks. Hard to beat.
Fenix pd30. Small but extremely powerful! Best light I've ever owned.
The new single cell h32 zebra light is supposed to be released this month. I can't wait and will order the second its available.
I have 2 zebra lights, 5 Princeton teck models, 2 black diamond models, a small oetzel, and a few others. I'm kind of a headlamp fanatic!
The zebra light is my favorite. Light weight, tough as nails, works flawless and long run time.
The Princeton tech lights are the best "plastic lights" I have ever used... A far second on my list of favorites, but second none the less.
I agree on not getting "floody models" from zebra. The normal is perfect for hunting and blood trailing and navigating. The floody model is more for plumbers and electricians.
I have three all Princeton Tec. One is a small unit for around camp and pee runs at night. The others are for the pack and emergency use. The main unit is a Cabela's alaskan guide XW model. And a smaller backup unit. All run on the same batteries.
Mike
I really like this one from Cabela's, made by Princeton Tech.
I have been using it for years. The green light is bright enough to walk in by and do everything you need to do and I have seen it not spook deer.
The white spotlight works well for tracking or when you need a bright light.

I mostly have Princeton Tec and am happy with them. Just wanted to let others know that they have a lifetime warranty and do honor it. I've sent three back, two I broke and one just stopped working. I have always received a new replacement from them. Bear in mind that I own about eight of them.
Not a fan of the headlamps with attached corded battery holders, kind of a pain.
I really like the green light, makes tacks glow from a long distance. I use the trident buckmaster. It has (3) green and a single white(never use the white). I don't like the on/off button as it gets bumped and I find the light on in my pack sometimes. Takes (3)aaa which is fine with me.
Can't think of the name of the one I use most..just ordered another one the other day $1.99 shipped.
Petzl.....going into the 8th season now with that one in particular that stays with my hunting gear, still perfect!!! I believe its the Tactika. Worth its weight in gold!
I've been using a couple Black Diamonds that have been great but I just got one from Wally World last night that looks very promising.
This is a 225 lumens Bushnell.I think they just hit the shelves here.Obviously I haven't used it much yet but it looks and feels well made,2 levels of brightness, white, red and blue lighting and is simpler to switch modes than the Black Diamonds. It was only slightly over $20 and listed for cheaper online. It takes 3 AA's-included (Duracells)
Don't let the price throw you. This is a decent little head light. They have various Bushnell models including aluminum bodied hand helds from 100 to 500 lumens. The prices are right guys.Check those out.
......energizer with lithium batteries !
4 or 6 led ...13-$30.00 great lightweight , long lasting headlamp , and with adding lithium batteries it won't let you down !
