Me and my buddy went out to trim some branches and put out cameras and walked up to our 1st set, which we hung a couple of weeks ago, only to find it had been stolen. Turns out they got all 3 of our sets.
Lot's of $ and time gone. But more than that, just the frustration of someone feeling entitled to taking your stuff!!!
Just wanted to vent.
Bummer, I know the feeling, it's crazy they got all 3. I have had 3 stolen over the last few yrs during the season....walk to my stand to hunt and it's gone. What's wrong with some people?
It's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better. We just had a 12-yr old boy stab and kill a 9-yr old here in MI. There was a case in the news not too far back where a couple of young girls stabbed one of their girl friends. I don't believe these kids don't know right from wrong - they just don't have any moral values. We have a whole generation growing up that we have taught "How doesn't matter. Just take all you can get". You see it in sports, in business - it's just becoming the modern ethic.
Sure makes me appreciate my friends - especially the ones I've made here on Trad Gang.
There is not much in this world lower than a damn thief. It seems that nobody has respect for the property of others.
The problem is a lack of justice in this world. It's all become so anarcho-socialist touchy-feely now that by the time all is said and done it ends up being the person whose stuff was stolen's fault for not seeking out the thief in the first place graciously offering them the desired goods and heartily apologizing for not doing more to help them. How dare you not provide free game cameras to those needy folks! You selfish monster! The outrage!
:biglaugh:
Dang shame. Damn a thief.
"What's wrong with some people?"
No upbringing, mom and dad(if he's around at all) too busy with their own lives to raise their kids. METH and other drugs, a sense of entitlement, that "I deserve to have it all now".
Sorry if yours was a rhetorical question, thought I should rant instead of explode...
It was kinda rhetorical, it's a pretty common saying around here when something crappy like that happens.
Even worse when someone comes on to private property and steals your stand. Also they couldnt get neighbors stand off the tree so they cut the top out of the tree it was in. Thought we as hunters had that unwritten rule of respecting eachother.
I had a few go missing too so again I remind everyone to place trail cameras across from the stands well hidden and high enough off the ground where you need the lower section of your ladder to reach them,,, aim across deer run and pick up the base of your tree in the back ground,, see deer and catch stand thieves if they show up..
Yep, Ive had several cameras stolen. Here in PA and KS.
Sorry to hear that. I know its replaceable stuff but its so disrespectful. I've always shared everything I have, all anyone has to do is ask.
The creepy thing is, they probably watched you put them up. Sorry that happened though.
I now use the muddy vantage stand and the bracket system. Never leave my stand in the woods now. Love it. Sorry for your bad luck.
I was in a pawn shop Friday and there must have been 20 wheel bows hanging from the ceiling. Ya gotta know they were 5-fingered from someone's home or truck.
I knew a guy who would leave his compound hanging in the tree all night if he was coming back in the morning,,, it kind of made sense to me because its too dark too shoot soo why stink it up with more truck and house scent.
he would also leave it in the tree for his mornign break,, that made sense too because he would stomp and trample his way out of the woods so he would never have a chance on seeing anything walking in or out..
I mention this because as far as I know he never got his bow or stand stolen I think people must of thought it was a trap and avoided it,, he did have a rep as a lunatic out there..
I was going to say too that my chain on stands all get welded in the fully open position,, they never squeak, they'll never fold up and I can indentify them just by looking up from the ground, and believe it or not thyey are easier to carry because you just drape them over your shoulder so the seat is flat against your chest and the platform is somewhat flat against your back.
Thieves steal more than our gear.
Best not to give them easy opportunities, make them work to steal. Yep, had them cut chain link fences to get in, but they had to work for entry.
Poachers are a special kind of thief, too.
Yup, my ladder stand got jacked last season. not even close to property line....bout as dead center on private property as you can get. Shut down some trespassers and look what I get. Hope someone returns the "favor" on them some day. :saywhat:
Sorry for your loss. I hate a thief and in todays society there are many. They are sorry people is all I can say. Karma or whatever you call it will pay them back. You don't get away with sin in this life or the next.
Only a pinko, commi, thumb sucking, bed wetters will steal.
I electrify my stands. Bury a battery and run a wire to base of stand., it will about knock you down if you touch it., I have a remote that turns it off when I get to stand and on when I leave.,works great.

That's kinda funny. Seeing a video of some fool thief would be priceless. I've had my fair share of stands stolen off private land.
electrified stands.....love it...
Wow! Now we are getting creative. Just cause we shoot sticks doesn't meant we aren't hi tech I guess. :biglaugh:
only a pinko, commi, thumb sucking bed wetter would do that.
Kids today get the wrong impression about responsibility from video games. Hit the reset and get to shoot the same bad guy, no harm, no foul. They carry that same disregard into life. Took my bride out for her favorite restaurant to celebrate the Corp's birthday. Family came in, sat down, and opened the iPhone. Kids played games, parents texted. How do you teach young when you do not set an example? Sorry about your gear.
I feel your pain. I had a ladder stand and lock on with sticks stolen last year. All together I've had four lock ons and climbing sticks and two ladder stands taken over the last fifteen years. Some from private and some from public land. There's never a shortage of thieves around here it seems like. It deffinitely affects my hunting because i just can't run out and replace everything like i used to. I figure they'll get what they've got coming to them in more ways than one.
That stinks, don't know how you'll catch em
It sucks that there are so many lowlifes around, that is why my climber is on my back when I go in and out of the woods, I don't set stands anymore.
Nothing worse than a thief! My truck has been hit twice in the last three years! First time I was loaded to go scout Mt. Goats and made the mistake of sleeping a couple hours before I took off. Nothing like working 12+ hour days to make ends meet and to have a lazy sloth take what's you've earned.
We had guys here in Orlando that were going around knocking on peoples door at 2 a.m. and when you answered would push their way through and it turned into home invasion and burglary. Well it was about 2 a.m where I lived when we had this guy pounding on our door and ringing the door bell repeatedly. My wife started to freak out and cry.
I tell you what boys, the guys eyes were as big as golf balls when I swung the door open and he was looking down the barrel of a Glock 35. I asked him what he was doing and he told me our car dome light was on. I told him to wait right there as I slowly shut the door standing off to the side to put the gun in my waist band. Opened the door and he was gone. Grabbed my dog and let him loose because he was not out on the street. Searched around my house to no avail and couldn't find him again. I assumed he was with someone else that was driving. Long story short wife's car door was opened like he ran by the car and opened it before he left or before he knocked on our door. You just don't do that at someone's house that late at night.
Don't trust anyone! Prior LEO and it's hard for me to look at a lot of people and say to myself Dirt Bag!
Sorry about your stuff, maybe if you hang around in different areas you will catch them. I also do all my hunting with a sidearm and it's not just for animal protection.
