Hey all,
Thought I would share with you my new toy. Got on the list for a Javaman Elkheart some time ago. For those of you that know Gregg...he's awesome to work with.
I wanted a dark brown bow and we found some great mango veneers. From there we had many discussions about riser, overlay, tips...and construction. Gregg is a patient man!
Here is the start...
Mango looks kinda plain but under glass...wow.

Riser choice was Wenge.

More to come....
I like where this is going!
Looks good so far!!
Getting close to finished....

Really like the wood combo
Beautiful!! Love the I-beam construction technique. Love the wood choices, Wenge is one of my favorite woods. Yup Gregg is a pleasure. As I have said before, there are keeper bows and keeper bowyers...Gregg builds the former and IS the latter. Can't wait to see finished pics.
I also love the wood choices. Looking forward to more pics
Ok. Her e is the finished product. I have a few Shrew CH's and Helms in grey, tan, red, etc. But I told my bride that I really "needed" a dark brown model to complete the set.
Thrilled with the finished look,.....but even better is just as all Gregg's bows she is smooth and quiet as ever.

Here she is with the St. Jude's quiver from Far West. Bid and won with this bow in mind.

Nothing wrong with that...
Gregg did an outstanding job.
Looks sharp!
Man, that is just a work of art!
If I could shoot these well (which I've tried but can't), I'd have to order one after seeing these pics. Gregg builds a great bow!
Stunning! I really like the chocolade look of the bow.

The Elkheart is an amazing little bow. Archie I dunno if you shot a 1pc or 2pc, but from my experimentation the 2pc is absolutely key. That extra mass from the Bow-bolt and any phenolic in the riser, whether half, I-beam or solid when combined with the forward handle design just makes these bows perform like a bow 6-8" longer. I have gotten so use to my Elkheart now that when I shoot now I don't even realize its short anymore.
Wow! Great combination all the way around.
Very nice! Love the wood choices!
Beautiful bow!
Awesome bow...!!!
Nice one. Shot one of your old bows today.
Hey Mark,
Can't remember... Which bow?
Wow... A really nice bow. I'm all new to Java man bows but I'm liking what I am discovering.
Do you have any full length pics of it strung?
Cheers,
ak.
Al,
I'll get one tonight and post for you.
It is 54"CH, 55@28", TD.
Thanks for the pics, but you missed the important part... The take down system.... Can you show us that?
Thanks
ALex
Nice bow...I see there's a small thumb rest. I love having a thumb rest, had Kempf put one on my longbow and of course Fedora is standard. Good luck with the bow.
Here are the requested pics of:
- Take down system (bow bolt)I've had (5) bows from Gregg with this system and no issues.
- Full bow unstrung
- Full bow strung
Hope this helps.

Larry, what length are you drawing with that little beauty? Love the "I" Beam
Beautiful looking piece of work.
Good Shooting,
Craig
FYI, Yellow Dog is responsible for trying I-Beam's on my bows. This is the 2nd, and both turned out well. The first is a one piece.
Larry was gracious enough, and agreed to have it on his bow. You get more wood showing with enough strength for the Bow Bolt.
Gregg
Gregg,is it standard from now or is it a option?
Exclusive option for Yellowdog and me! :p
I'm not a fan of phenolic so I was glad Gregg let me try it.
Drawing just shy of 28" Yella.
Gorgeously lethal looking!
Felix,
Optional construction but no real cost impact.
Gregg
Are you going to put a bow quiver on it? If so, which one?
Now if that shelf were just on the other side, I'd call it perfect.
Dear Shrewman,
Thanks for taking the time to post the take down system. I would like to try the bolt system one day as it looks so much neater than the rest.
Beautiful bow by the way... I shall keep an eye out for Javaman bows in the classifieds.
Cheers
Alex
beautiful
Looks good......but does it hunt?
in good time Huck...in good time....... :archer2:
Thanks a bunch for the pics... From what I see and have read Greg sure knows what he is doing.
Wow
Heck of a bow. Greg sure can make a functional piece of art can't he? I love my elkheart, it's one of my favorites. Thanks for posting all the pics, makes me want another one!
Classy!
Very beautiful. The wood combination goes well together.
Very nice!!
