In 7 years I will reach my 20 year mark at my job, Lord willing. So, I set a goal for myself.
I'm going to celebrate with a hunting trip to Alaska for Sitka Blacktail deer. I'm not sure why I want to go there but I have always been captivated by the idea, beauty of the country and adventure.
So I contacted my human resources dept. and started a payroll deduction into a seperate savings account.
What are you setting for a goal?

Finishing school, get a better paying job, and buying my 1st Schafer....
It has always been a dream of mine to hunt elk on a backcountry trip. Last year my brother moved to Oregon, and in 2015 I am making it happen!!
You will love Alaska, one of the last truely wild places there is. I was fortunate enough to spend six months in the bush of of Kodiak Islands west side right after college. Congrats on making your dream a reality. Alaska never disappoints.

When I drop another 50 pounds I am going to book a hunt!!
Making memories is what it's all about . Good luck man
Retiring so I can enjoy all my days... I have more than I need, except for time.
Good luck that sounds like a blast! Mine is an Alaskan drop camp caribou hunt with my son when he's old enough and before I'm tool old. He's 8 I just turned 40
My goal is to become financially debt free so I don't have to think twice about taking off for a month at a time to be selfish in the woods. After college tuition, I have a long ways to go.
Its not as crazy of an expense as you may think. I say if you can swing the vacation time you should book that hunt as a 3 or 4 year goal and do it again if you wish in 7.
Have a great trip.
Just concentrating on enjoying my grand children.
I need cyclic-rivers to counsel my wife!!

Its much cheaper to go hunt... I recommend that instead ;) :p
Goofy newbie goal maybe, getting out to twenty yards, consistent, and accurate.. That, and gettin my order in for a Wes Wallace Royal!!! :p
Muttly,
There are no goofy goals. Everyone on this site was newbie at one time or another, so there is no shame in it. Keep at it and you'll achieve those goals and go far beyond.

The thought has crossed my mind. If all I do is save through my automatic deduction than 7 years is how long it will take. I'd love to go in 3-4. However my son is going to be graduating h.s. in 4 ( ) and is already talking about a "present". So, we'll see what happens.
Last year on the first of August we lost a brother at the firehouse. Too young, heart attack while working out at home. It really opened my eyes to whats important and not putting things off. But I also see there has to be some responsibility worked into the equation. Therefore, I think 7 years is reasonable.
Love all the goals I'm hearing. Anyone else?

:biglaugh: I'm 35lbs into my 50lbs goal, maybe I should start thinking about where I want to go :dunno:
Spend as much time in the outdoors as I can . Hunting Sika and whitetall in Maryland , whitetail and small game in NY , Tenkar fly fishing Vermont ,and NY .Fight my health problems , and be strong enough for a hunt with my son in Alaska.
Jason, you didnt have 50 lbs to lose.
Rich, Good luck in MD. I will be picking your brain soon.
I checked off moving to Montana last year, and am down 30# only 15 to go, should be there by elk season for sure.
One of my dream hunts is a caribou trip to Alaska, but first is finding a better job so my wife can fully concentrate on school to get her nurse practitioner license. And I will go to school once she is done.
We are seriously throwing around the idea of moving to Alaska in 5-7 years, so my goal is to hunt as much as possible here in Montana, and plan a hunt to Colorado to hop out for a 180"+ mule deer.
I would like to shoot a black bear, mule deer, elk and pronghorn here in Montana. Oh and of course a mountain goat and bighorn ram if I ever draw the tags :biglaugh:
