Post by: IAhunter86 on August 04, 2014, 08:31:00 PM
I'm going to be purchasing zwickey eskimo or eskilite broadheads for my first trad hunt this year. Without broadheads im estimating my arrow at 430 gr. So question is should i got with the eskimos at 160 gr or the eskilites at 135 gr. Hunting whitetail with a bear grizzly 50#

If that is a carbon arrow I'd prefer the 160 grain.

That's with all other tuning considered.

You need to use the point weight that your arrows are tuned with. Either one of those weights you list will be good for finished arrow weight but more important is the arrow flight. What point weight are you shooting with those arrows now?

Shooting a 125 tip now with either a 75 or 100 gr insert i cant remember. Arrows are the carbon beman classics

However you are able to tune and obtain near perfect arrow flight is the way to fly (pun intended), whatever your BH weight.  Experiment as much as you can to gain the confidence you need.  The best setup will reveal itself time and time again.  Shoot for consistency.

Best of luck hunting!
