Dillon State Park has a good population of deer and one can reasonably expect to see deer on a regular basis.

Some Ohio landowners register their property for hunter access.  Check the ODNR site for details.

Good luck.

I've never just knocked on doors for permission to hunt, but I suppose it could work. If I were gonna try checking with random landowners I would probably drive around Licking County. A lot of deer and pretty much all private land on farms. I live in central Ohio and around here most people I know that hunt public lands travel an hour or so south to Zaleski State Forest or Wayne National to hunt. It's hilly terrain, but that's where I grew up hunting and I love it. Deer aren't as big as those on farmland, but the actual hunt is much more rewarding and it's really beautiful country to me at least. Be ready for some tough dragging if you're lucky enough to get a deer. At least by Ohio standards. Guys/gals from real mountains might laugh at our "hills", but it wears me out!

what part?
I live in SE (Jackson)
Most farms are leased now adays.

Theres a lot of public hunting that doesnt get a lot of pressure in bow season.
