This is Emily, and I went over the fundamentals of trad archery with her yesterday. She shot for the first time with my wife and I.
She also suffers from Marfan syndrome just like I do. She stands 6' 3" and has a 30" draw, and unlike my wife (whose bow she is modeling) she's right handed.
I'm hoping once I link her this thread she'll join and share with us. She's excited to be able to do something with our disease, because anything that's impact is out for us so we don't fall or our aorta doesn't burst.
She's unable to use our equipment, as the hand is wrong on my wife's and mine are way too strong for her. She's right handed, and would need something 25 pounds or lighter draw. I'll try to get her some of the cheap aluminum arrows here and refletch them for her. I'll talk to her about joining up here, but she'll probably be over to shoot once a week, and I'll be sure to provide updates as well.

Not to get off your thread. But I seen one of your other posts saying about you having a 38 in draw do to this disease/ misfortune you have. Do you mind giving a brief explanation of you alls problems and what it causes?
Also glad to see you tryin your best to enjoy archery. And share it with others. I commend you brother!
We have a wide array of issues, ranging from skeletal deformities (like the spurs on our elbows and our overly long limbs, or our height) to heart issues (we have enlarged aortas and an incredibly high rate of aortic dissection, which is normally fatal and can strike without warning) to odd issues, like the fact that I'm missing part of my small intestine, or the fact that she has narcolepsy. She has a far less severe case than mine, as I'm one of the worst cases to live to my age.

There's so much more than what I glossed over here that the Foundation can handle so much better. There's no cure, no real treatments and we just react as trouble pops up. Maybe one day there will be, but right now there's maybe a treatment or two in the pipeline, but I probably won't live to see it.
It's something that controls your life and archery is one of the few things that we can do just as well as everyone else. With our draw lengths, we might even have an advantage.
