Went to Denton Hill today with the wife. Wanted to pick up a few things to build some arrows for the hunting season. Ran into South Cox at his both and we had a nice chat. Then he said why don't you shoot one of my bows........well you most likely know the rest of the story!
Which one did you get ?

Ahahahahaha I love it!!
Great choice Ron, your going to love it ... and isn't South a nice guy
Super nice guy to chat with.........I have a Coyote SL coming.......All gray action wood, 62" Static limbs 45# @ 29".....kind of a plain Jane stealth model. With the short riser it will have a long working limb......I'm excited!! ;)
I shot one there Thursday and had a heck of a time talking myself out of buying it!!!
Very nice shooters and workmanship and yes South is a great guy. :notworthy:
Cant wait to see it Ron!
Yes it is a pleasure to talk with South and.....buy his bows!
Good Move Buddy! Enjoy Your New Bow!
... mike ... :archer2: ...

I have Schleyer model and I plan to "moose hunt" with Bart in Alaska this Sept. South is a good guy and highly motivated bowyer. Mike
You're going to love it Ron! I just got my Coyote XT from South. Bocote and Wenge riser and Cocobolo limbs. Sweet bow! I guess i'll have to start a new thread with some pics.

What are you trying to say..... :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Ron paid full price for a bow?  :scared: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Ron you are going to love your new bow! I have a coyote fxt and it has become my favorite bow. It is easy to be accurate with. The bow is as nice as the man that built it. Big THANKS to South
Hey Larry........got to step up once in a while!!
Ron, it's guys like you who make me think maybe I'm normal.
I think we are normal......I also got on the list for a JD Berry........that's normal.....right!?
 A Stalker Coyote SL! Ron I might be making a house call :wavey:
Anytime Jason......once it gets here.....lol! Or come over and shoot anything you want! I have a good selection.......
I met South at Denton.
Really nice guy! He mentioned he found one sucker last weekend, just didn't know it was you..... I should have known.... lol
Seriously Ron, I cant wait to shoot it! That is if you share ;) You should ask him about some spalted maple veneers. They look like Fire and have traveled across the US at least 2 X why not once more :dunno:
I got one on order as well. Can't wait for it!! Hard to not order one when my booth was backed up to this talk all of EATR just a awesome guy. And great bows!!!
What a nice guy. I talked to him about some options I would like to see before I get another one. He said he's working on them:) I bought his video. Great stuff!!
That's like saying "I dare you to shoot one"
Another one, Ron? Congratulations again!!!!
I just missed out on a great deal on the classifieds for one! I'm really bummed. I guess I just took too long trying to figure out if I should buy it, and what, if any, I wanted to sell for it. There's always the next one, right?
Don't forget the pics!
CAUTION!!! Don't, try these bows, they stick to your hand & you can't let go! (Two Stalker Wolverine SL's rode home with me, one for me & one for my buddy. Great bows!)
Spent some time at his booth at the kzoo show. talked awhile then shot a few of his bow's. they are on my short list to buy in the future.
Huntmaster70.......I told you not to shoot his bows......my wife is still laughing that Len bought one also! She wasn't laughing so much when I ordered mine..... :dunno: That's 3 Stalkers sold to Members of the same club.
Was it something in the water there?
Stalkers are great and personally I love "plain jane" bows more so than fancy...just something subtle anout them. I'm jealous.
So Terry and Leonard are the other 2 suckers from NY South was talking about???? :smileystooges:
Guys, please do not bring your bows to the next shoot. I would hate to have a whole stringer of suckers :dunno:
I bought his video and watched it last night. neat stuff.
I thought I saw one with "Charlie" on it on the rack.

Dangnabit, Now I might have to pay for shipping :knothead:
Only about 9 weeks away now....... :biglaugh:
Ron I have mine
Lol.....you guys are gonna be hooked from shooting the Stalker. I've got 3 of them and I love'em all!

I still don't believe you bought one.....it's a hoax!
Terry hade me do it :knothead:
Finally got a chance to shoot a Stalker for the first time at Denton Hill. I was quite impressed with the 62" 53@28" Coyote recurve that I shot. Very nice shooting bow, with an excellent grip.
Bill
Made me do it :banghead:
So all this stalker talk..., who has a jackal and please tell me about it
I was fortunate enough to help South design the jackal riser. So you could say I like it. It's smaller for those of us who like longbow handles. I have the static limbs on mine and love them. They are quiet and quick.
Now it's only about weeks away.........LOL.....I can wait, I can wait, I can wait..........
It's getting close.........I know it will be soon, I know it will be soon, I know it will be soon.
Ron, you're going to make a buddy of mine very jealous. He picked up one at Kalamazoo Trad Expo last year and didn't even have to shoot it - the grip was what did it for him. Now, every time I point out a bow to him he says "Nope, saving up for a Stalker". He'll have to pay full price and that's going to kill him, but he's stolen so many for less than half price it will do him good :)
Hey Ron, I hope I make him jealous soon......did you get you other River Runner?
No, I told Chad "no rush" as I was broke. He said he'd start it in late Nov and deliver it in Jan at Kalamazoo Trad Expo.
Now I really need to get to work and finish up some knives as I still don't have the money saved up.
Worst case I may have to sell a gun or two, or one of my bows. Just don't see how I can part with any :(
I hear ya Ron, This one was a fairly short wait, I got on the JD Berry list and that's a long way out there, plenty of time to get the cash up...lol
Man oh man I wish I never had stumbled across this thread...I have a cup at home saving up for one, and this isn't going to make it any easier.
I've never shot one myself, but if they're half as sweet as everyone says, I think I'll be happy :biglaugh:
How big is your cup....... :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
But It's worth the wait ;)

Ron Hurry up and get the bow so I can shoot it lol.

The Coyote gets started the end of next week.....it won't be long now!! :jumper: :jumper:
:bigsmyl:
:campfire: :coffee: I dislike waiting.......... :dunno: Soon I hope!
Ron, you are getting impatient. :readit: Don't rush South, he may make a mistake under the pressure and have to start all over ;) :p
I have a longbow I'm waiting on to be built but, now that I have the Bighorn, I'm not even looking forward to it getting here! Don't see myself shooting any other bow for quite some time.
Look forward to seeing your Stalker Ron.
I like my Schleyer model Stalker. see below

awesome and congrats of course. Between that diy thread on the other site and this clip, you've got me all wound up to get back on a river far far north... sooner the better too
Deerfly- Thanks. If you want to read about my hunt, check out my solo moose hunt and tribute thread here on tradgang.
Herdbull - that Schleyer looks amazing. What is your favorite characteristic about it? Feel, look, accuracy?
:coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:
I sure like the looks of his bows. The Schelyer model is on my "wanted" list, for sure. Such a beautiful wood combination. I plan to demo one of his static recurves soon. If they shoot as good as they look, they must be among the best bows out there.

Same here ! :D
TheYak- The Stalker are similar to Brackenbury and Wes Wallace bows of which I have shot for years. The new models that South is putting out have slimmer grips and more defined. I like the feel and the wood combination. I also like that South dedicated the Schleyer line to Bart's memorial fund and educational support of his son Artyom through a $100 donation from each bow. Mike
Mike, you might have said already, but did you get the static or dynamic limb on this bow? Just wondering what you thought about the static if you got that. That's the limb I want to try in the Wolverine handle model. It sure is a great looking bow. I shoot Wallace bows, so if the grip is similar I think I will like it.
Duplicate post - 1 day later ?
I got one of the first Schleyer models. Now South has expanded the line and the style choice. I do not have the static limbs, but woluld like to try them. I am a long recurve guy and most of mine are 64 inches. South put a flat tough finish on his hunting bows, but I kind of would like to see the Schleyer in a satin of semi-gloss finish. I bet the wood grain would just pop!
Very nice bow, in any finish.
I should have my bow in another 10 days or so.....
Please post pics. I would like to see them. I love that flare he puts in his high-end riser. That's my favorite look for a riser. I'm not sure that the correct technical term for it, but the hourglass shape accent, whatever the term for it is.
Mine is a Coyote Static, nothing fancy, but when it comes I will show it off!
Handsome is as handsome does, so they say.

The FXT models all have the flare - the XT has the chevron shaped accent stripe, and the SL is the plainer actionwood version.
I'd have to fork over the dough for the FXT model, then! That's one classy looking bow!
That's great Ron! I hope you enjoy that bow.
Ron, I have been checking this thread daily I don't know who is more excited me or you, can't wait to see it. I have a Coyote with longbow limbs and love it.

Sounds like Ron needs to see this bow too.
Ron, are you tired of the 500 other bows on the wall? LOL
Hope you see this bow soon. :readit:
My Coyote came today, took some time but it's here. Got it set up and in between rain and fog I took it out to run a few arrows out of her. I'm pleased with how it shoots, pretty quick for the weight- 46# @ 29". I shot my hunting arrows at 525 gr and it puts them right in there out to 25 yards. My hunting and shooting buddy KAT is going to put a photo up in the near future. I have a call into South to discuss a few things, but I think the Coyote and I will get along just fine.

Rick
Good for you Ron!
Congrats
F-Manny
awesome looking bow... how about some action shots??
Action shots.......lol, I'm lucky to send an e-mail of the photo to Ken.
Great Looking Bow Ron, I am looking forward to trying it out.
Congrats Ron, that's a looker for sure
Nice looking bow Ron..Enjoy it, but better keep a eye on Charlie when you let him try it out.
Nice!
Bout time buddy, looks like it was worth the wait!
Nice Ron, I like the Gray's!
Ron, I'm going to pass that pic on to one of my buds and watch while he squirms. I know he happens to be broke at the moment, but wants one in the worst (best?) way.
I like to take care of my friends that way :)
Just one pic? That ain't right. :D
Sweet looking bow Ron!

Ron,
Gray is a great color for hunting. It is a natural camo that blends in with any background. Kill a big one with it!
Bill
I took it out today, I leaned it against my ground blind that I made and it almost vanished. It really blends in well!
Had the bow out a couple of times.....I have had a Silvertip, several Black Widows, a Few RER's, some Zippers and a bunch of other bows, this is as good as any, much better than some. It's light in the hand [I like that] and performs well. I had a few issues with the build but that has been taken care of so I won't dwell on that. The season is winding down but I'm already looking forward to hunting with this bow down the road.
