I had a post yesterday asking questions on bow performance and grains per lb effect on speed. Here is the bow I was testing. I actually made this bow this spring but just got the finish sprayed on it last week. My hat goes off to the bowyers that do this everyday! If I had to make a living at this I would starve to death. Made this one and one other for a friend of mine this year. Now bow building stuff is put away until after deer season this winter again.
This bow is 58: and 48@25" or 57@27"
It is a all bocote riser with gray/black and white phenolic/glass accents. the overlays are black and gray glass with bocote.
The tips are 4 layers of black and white phenolic and glass and the limb cores are bamboo.
The bocote for the limbs came from Idaho Curt. He said he had some good bocote and he didn't dissapoint! They aren't veneers, he sent them about .120 and they were tapered from there.
This bow is a little heavier draw than I normally shoot but it is smooth and shoots great. here are the pics.

beautiful bow, looks like wonderful craftsmanship
Steve, You do an excellent job on the bows you build. For a non-pro bowyer, you sure turn out professional level bows. Enjoy it and good luck with it this coming season.
That's nice! Looks like you could make a living at it to me.
That's awesome
Great work! looks awesome!
Nice job, enjoy the shooting.
Looks good
Nice job!! You really nailed that one.
I see a little Jim Neaves DNA in that bow :D
Keep up the great work!!
Wow....awesome job!!!
That is gorgeous! Bocote is pretty hard to beat.
Chuck, the Centaur to me is the best bow built! Has all the qualities a good hunting bow should have. So when I went to designing, I naturally followed alot of the details of the Centaur. Jim was also very helpful in giving me advice on bow building. Great bow and a great guy.
Nice bow Steve!! Bring it to Denton Hill!
Very nice!
Very, very nice!!!!
wow!! bro you got some skillz, thats about as pretty as anything i've seen...
Very nice bow. You may be slow, but you do good work.
Nice job. Love that bocote.
Luv me some Bocote. Only problem is the shelf is on the wrong side for me. :D
That bow looks incredible! I bet it shoots as goods as it looks!! Congratulations!
Thanks for the compliments. I enjoy the layout as much as the building. Trying to find what woods/ accents will look good together. This one has 3 pieces on the front overlay or finger grooves. First time I did that. I had to keep them thin to keep handle size down
Beautiful bow!
Good luck with it....sure is pretty.
Outstanding workmanship!
Beautiful looking bow!
Very nice Steve!
Keep me in mind whenever you decide to part with one of your creations!
Great looking bow!
