For you hardcore ground pounders what is your seat of choice? This year I want to do more ground hunting. For the little I've done I like tree seats. I've also used a 3 legged stool. I want to keep it small. Pics of your favorite would great. Thanks. By the way natural ground blind for me.
I was thinking about using the seat part of my lone wolf hand climber.
Steve I did that,it's great! I was just wondering if there is anything more compact.
I'm sure that there is, the thing I like about it is you can put it at a height so that it's almost at a standing position making it easier to stand and turn if you need to. I do have a small folding seat that has a bag under it for taking extras with if you want and a strap so you can just throw it over your shoulder and go.
Folding Torges Seat...this is before I spray camoed it.

I am a die hard fan of the Huntmore 360 Thanks to Mike Mitten's story about his Dad loving it several years ago...I had mine about 4 years now and had several other seats that I simply had a sore rear end after a half hour or so in those but once I sat in the Huntmore 360 that will adjust to any sort of terrain I found I sat nearly 4 hours before getting up.
I love the 360 movement and how quiet this seat is not to mention how comfortable it is..
Now many say it costs a lot but really I found I have saved money cause I'm "Not" buying a different seat to try anymore..
Scott is super nice to deal with and has always been there for a few questions I have had and he went above and beyond customer service..This seat will be around for years and has many uses besides just hunting..
I like the tote stool. You can clip it to your belt and sets up in seconds, is very quiet and comfy.

Waldrop pack seat and the Torges seat......2 of the best!
You have that right Ron, I sit a lot ,and my butt has not been more comfortable since I got my Waldrop.......

This is what the Waldrop is for those of you not familiar.....

Here is what I use. It's cheap, lightweight, and folds up to a nice size to carry on my back.

Hammock seat for when I am moving around. Huntmore 360 for when I set up a blind that I am going to spend a lot of time in.
I use the huntmore 360.
When using my ghillie being able to pivot is worth packing it in.
Torges seat like Joe Skipp. I couldnt imagine hunting without it
I've tried a lot of different seats but none that cost over 40 bucks.
I came across some chairs that are the canvas/folding type, 4 legs at a local dime store.
6 bucks, so I bought 4, These are the most comfortable chairs I've set in, and having a bulging disc in my lower back, I have to have something fairly comfortable. I did have to camo the chairs, they only came in red or blue.
Look around, you never know what you may come across that doesn't cost a lot of money.
I buy what is on sale and usually do all right. I like the three legged style seat best, and some of these low cost seats work well. The last one I bought was a Bass Pro item. One reason I don't get the high priced item is that I leave a seat in the blind all season, which subjects it to weather hazards.
Hunt more 360 for me.
I need to play with it and rig it up so I can carry it already set up if possible, other than that it is very comfortable
Top part of a Lone Wolf tree stand.
im thinking of the groundhunters seat
Its the one Big Jims Archery sells.
looks like a good "run and gun" seat.
Just lean up again a tree.
Ive used buckets, three legged stools, etc.
Most are too hard to get up from if you need to stand.
Do they still make the waldrops? I though they stopped making those? Or did they restart?
Blind King Hunting Chair. Solid, comfortable, quiet and easy to carry. Bought one before turkey season this spring and sat in it everyday. I got the deluxe with the swivel seat.

X2 on the ground hunter seat that Big Jim sells. Here's a pic of my setup this past late season on a cold December day in northern Illinois. The seat was comfortable for an all day sit.

The millinium tree seat is hard to beat. Big and comfortable they are very light... if memory serves they are 2#.
I used a Torges seat for years and still do on occasion.

I enjoy my Hammock seat, it is light and very comfortable. I also think the Spot 360 looks nice.
Torges Tree Seat! Easy to make, light to carry, fast to set up and having a tree as back support and breaking up your silhouette is just an added bonus.
Like I said I like tree seats and I've used my lone wolf top. That said I think the Torges seat is what I will try. Mud slide slim said it best.
I have one of the groundhunters seats from Big Jim. I will be using it this fall. They are easy to carry, just lean it up against a tree. and you are ready to hunt.
My meatless butt couldn't handle the Big Jims seat. I doubled the pad and still couldn't sit very long. The hammock seat is so comfy.

Funny this came up. I just bought (literally 1 hr ago) a 13" Coleman. Folding Stool at a local discount store. $12
I have a tree seat also, but this little stool would make things nice in the right place. It folds flat, and doesn't weight much.
Here's a pic of the smaller 9" seat

x3 on the hammock seat. I've never sat on anything for so long so comfortably. You need a tree of course, but I like to have a tree behind me anyway - especially if I'm hunting during gun season.
I use a 6 1/2-gallon bucket with a swivel lid like comes on the dove hunting bucket. They are taller than the 5 gallon buckets by about 3 inches.
I have had both knees replaced and have trouble getting low. I got the idea from Bow-n-Head ( Ray ). It holds my Ghillie suit and a Turkey decoy. Room for lots more if you want.
I added a shoulder strap for easy carrying. Spray painted camo. Works great for me.

That's a handy dandy idea right there
Spot 360 it is easy to pack and easy to set up and is extremely quiet. Can't ask for a lot more.
Also the hammock is great and very packable.
Trapper
Thanks for all of the pics amd stories guys ! I especially liked the video ! I hope to have some stories of my own this year. keep them coming !
salvaged 5 gallon bucket with a couple inches of scrap foam glued to the lid and spray painted camo.
less than a buck invested.

Yep, had David make me one about three weeks ago. He makes them as an order comes in. Usually 2-3 week wait.
And once you sit a stand in one of these, the rest will sit in a corner.
Good Shooting,
Craig
Different seats for different circumstances however when I know it's crunch time for big game the Huntmore, with it wide foot pads , adjustable legs, rotating quiet firm and comfortable seat becomes the best option to get off a good shot.

Nice set up Bruce! Did you ever get one from that spot?
Double Bull Magnum for me

If My memory serves correctly, a nice buck was teh outcome of that set up.
I am a fan of the waldrop pack seat however they are hard to turn in.
I'm a big proponent of the Huntmore 360. Very comfortable, swivels, very quiet, will last forever and Scott gives great customer service.
I always laugh when people complain about how much it weighs and how much it costs when they don't think twice about toting around their $400 Lone Wolf climbing stand all over the place.

Hammock Seat, easy to carry and super comfortable. Allows you to pivot left and right too.
Those Hammock Seats look pretty cool. Anybody know what the weight limit is on them?
best seat I've found,,, super light to carry, and you can shoot 360 degrees while being dead silent,, only the seat post pivots so you just turn with your legs while sitting,,, when you are sitting on this it has 3 legs and two of them are yours you can turn completely around to shoot behind you just by walking your feet.
I leave mine together and just carry into the woods with it slung over my back with paracord.
you can adjust the height, your back doesn't need to be scraping against the tree, NO Tree trunk to hit your elbow and interfere with your draw, two positions to change back and fourth if your butt starts getting sick of one position you spin the seat 90 degrees for a different feel.
the back rest if needed is a tree but you lean forward to bring your body away from the tree and then you can silently turn or lean the seat while sitting on it to position for for a shot,,, you are not constricted on the seat itself because it moves with you its the best of both worlds. works perfect inside ground blinds where there are no trees, adjusts up or down to get a nice shot out those windows. set up in a grassy field shooting back towards the woods then just pull out of the ground throw it over your shoulder and head to the muddy marsh nothing stops this seat.

Tajue17, I agree, that Nifftseat is a great little hunting seat. Small and extremely easy to carry, amazingly comfortable, and very easy to shoot from in a wide range of directions. People look at it and think no way that could be comfortable. But sit in one once and it is truly amazing.
I also have a Waldrop and like it very much as well.
whip its a good seat,, every seat has its place but it surprises me that not many people know about the nifftseat seat.. everyone who I show mine to wants one.
The Waldrop Pack seat and the Huntmore 360. I use the pack seat when I'm scouting or still hunting, and the Huntmore 360 when I have an established ground blind or an area I'm very familiar with. I hunt primarily WMA property and well off the beaten path.

Yep!
Millennium tree seat. So comfortable and light. Straps to any tree in seconds.
