Been nosing around looking for a short brimmed hat to wear while shooting and hunting. Need two...one for bug juice while shooting at the house and a clean one one for up in the tree. Many that I've seen are solid colors (i.e. tan, O/D green, gray, black, etc.). I'm kind of looking for camo ones. The Wensel brothers "Bowhunters Lid" fits the bill but I'd like different camo options (if they exist).
Thanks in advance gang.
How about the ones that Trad Gang sells ? I lime them . I do wish they had more different cameo to chose from . I do most of my shooting with one on .
May life's simplest things bring you the greatest pleasures !!!!
I got a hat as a gift from the Trad archers of New jersey and I think its exactly the same as the trad gang hat,,,, if so get it they re perfect PLUS there is a wire inside the brim so you can shape it so it doesn't interfer with your string or just go with the gomer pile look like I do...
I believe that The Nocking Point sells them too.
Big Jim,he has a good selection of colors and the short brim with wire.
Big Jim's and Tradgang's hat are the same, just different logos. Awesome hats!

Yessir, awesome hats. Support your local trad forum!
Same here...I shoot every day with my short bill TG hat on. It is a great hat for archery and hunting.
The hats are usually made by OTTO hat company. check that out..
I got both a green and a brown camo short brimmed cap from Big Jim.
does TradGang have any left?

Stalker Stickbows site. South sells the camo and the solid color. I like mine, they're just right.

traditional bowhunter sells short brimmed hats or regular, depending on how sunny it is I guess!
I wear one by outdoor research. They have it in multicam. Which I think is a good pattern
Take a look at the original Coups Cap sold by Two Tracks Bow Co ...
X2 on the coups. I also use bucket hats a lot.
I made mine. Took a regular long brimmed hat that I liked and did some modifications to it. Turned out looking like it was manufactured that way. I'll try to post a pic if I get a chance.
I bought a Barry Wensel hat years ago and still have it.Great hat.Not sure if he still makes it or not.
I don't wear hats or caps all the time, but have a thin cotton camo hat that I cut the brim down and I carry it in my cargo pocket for when the sun gets in my eyes.
Yeah, but for that to work, you gotta wear it backwards with the brim to the front :)
The Two Tracks e-mail has been down for a while. I put both a fleece and felted wool coups cap on my wish list there. I figure lambing season is in progress...
Thanks for the help fellas!

Tks, Jim
We sell them with no logo.Same hat as the Wensels have.We have solid green in stock.
Spinrite cresters sells them in various camo patterns with no logos.
Also, ClassicSportsman has some very nice ones in woods-friendly plaid wool. Another option is a crushable wool outback style hat or a boonie hat.
The wire brim hat has been discontinued unfortunately. We buy direct and were told that last time we ordered so we bought them out...hope they change their mind but don't see that happening.

Noggin tops. Been wearing my camo fedora of theirs for a decade.
Gray Wolf Wool makes a killer crusher hat. They also have a short brim baseball hat.

The Classic Sportsman sells a hat with a short brim especially for the bowhunter. They are a sponsor here so finding the site isn't a problem.

Any camo pattern hat you want and a good pair of scissors!
"The Nocking Point" has short brimmed hats in solid olive and brown camo. Believe they are $9.95. Give Shiela or Terry a call. Very well made military style with good strap size adjustment, not the cheap plastic. Best hat for the money I've found and I am hard to please when it comes to hats.
There's a guy that goes by Slangvel on Facebook and **** that makes short brimmed boonie hats in nearly any pattern you could want. They're definitely on the expensive end of pricing (about $45 shipped) but I got one in Austrian Dot Camo and it's really nice. It adjusts in size and you can get them with venting around the top for warm weather hunting.
Those slangvel hat's look nice.
Hello Matt, try Traditional BH of MD, they had some for sale. The webpage should get you there.
Thanks Fred! Man, I leave this thread alone and the day the wife has surgery (7/11), it takes off again! Thanks again fellas for the additional information.
We are ramping up production for our Coups Caps. We have been busy this summer with the farm, but we will have caps very soon. Polar fleece, felted wool and maybe a couple other materials if we can hst them to work.
