Title: Bow loaning
Post by: Bowwild on July 01, 2014, 10:34:00 PM
A regular Trad Ganger and are swapping bows for a few weeks. He is wanting to try a Schafer Tip and I've been wanting to try a Bob Lee Ultimate.  We both mailed our bows yesterday and they should arrive tomorrow.

This should be a good way to determine if I "need" another bow without having to buy it first and then lose a few hundred $'s if it isn't for me.

I've done this 2-3 times here. Works great!

Yep! I won't buy a bow that I can't shoot first. There are just too many out there that look great, but just don't quite feel right!

All of the guys I have dealt with around here have been top notch.

Yeah, you KNOW you need a new bow. You just are not sure if it should be a Bob Lee, or something else!                :dunno:

I sent one of my Schafers to Over & Under for him to try.  Told him to take it to the CO High Country shoot and give it a whirl.  All I asked in return were some pics.  Well done, Jake!

I've done it to. For me the reward is worth the risk. It was a great feeling when the bow is returned in as it left condition and a respected friendship is made.

I've done this with a former Kansas member now residing in Idaho. We have become really good friends through this site-another reason to appreciate TG.

Nice! It'd be great if there was a loan page in the classifieds. I've been wishing I could get a few different bows on loan. There's not too many archery events in NE MT.

Anybody have a 62" or 60" about 57# Dark Matter Centaur they'd let me try?

I just go ahead and purchase them used to test them out.  If you don't pay too much you can always sell them and usually don't lose too much.  Most of the time it might only cost me the shipping costs.

Only problem is that my curiosity gets the best of me and I don't shoot any one bow long enough to really get to know it......lol.

Bow swapping sounds good, It's not the Trad Gang Brothers/Sisters that I don't trust so much as it is the shipping co's.

Yes it has worked for me at times including now.

I just received a bow today that the man it belongs to has told me if I did not like it I could send it back with a refund other then his shipping charges!!!

Kind of like "Test Driving a Widow".

Yes some of us are Trust Worthy guy's and gal's.    :clapper:    :clapper:    :clapper:

After a recent purchase, my wife called me at work and told me my bow was delivered but,,, there was 3 inches of the tip sticking out of the package. Thank goodness for a great packing job and a Safari Tuff bow sock the bow was unskaved. The carpet role was actually bent in the middle, somehow all was OK, thank you Lord!

I would not hesitate to send a bow to any of my friends on here to try. Have done it and never had a problem.

Our respective loaner bows arrived (TX and KY) in perfect shape. I'll have to say I was a bit worried at the Post Office when I saw a badly dented box!  But the bow was fine. The limbs of the Lee were in the toughest looking limb "cases" I've ever seen!

I love the Ultimate: Phenolic dense, stable bow, slim grip, smooth draw, and quiet. The limb veneers are very special.

I called and talked to JJ at Bob Lee about 30 minutes after receiving it.

Hello:
I live in Nigeria and I need your help. I have 100 bows that I can claim from my grandmothers estate if you will send me your bow as a downpayment to show good faith. I will send you 50 bows as payment. Thank you!
Signed

Make sure you have insurance! I had one slip away 5 weeks ago-vanished into thin air! Could have been a miserable deal. As it was it was only kinda' miserable.

I had a guy from Wisconsin that I never met except on the internet here on Tradgang send me  three longbows to try after I told him I was interested it trying one.  It was a big help and I ended up buying a Big River LB after demoing one of his.  It's nice to know that there is still trust out there.   Thanks Bomania!

I have one on a "long term" loan to a buddy who is serving our country as a Marine.

I know he'll take care of it and when he comes back to Missouri I'll get the bow back.

Trust is what has been developed here on Tradgang because of the open honest folks.

Kudos to all who have fostered this kind of friendship and trust.

God bless,Mudd

I ended up buying the loaner Bob Lee Ultimate.

Great bow and great fellow to deal with.

I can't believe it took me so long to try these Lee's.

Now I'm on surgeon's orders not to shoot a bow (or lift grandchildren, etc.) for 6 weeks.  Not an archery injury.

I wouldn't hesitate to loan a bow or swap bows. If someone decided they needed my bow so bad they don't give it back, I consider that a compliment to the bowyer  :)

In fact Ben (caughtandhobble) loaned me a bow at the end of last year and I am very grateful!

Top notch fella right there!
