I ordered a new Black Widow PLX longbow this morning. Worked with Toby to design a wood combination that should be something special. The Black Widow guys have been awesome. This will be my first Black Widow bow and looking forward to receiving it sometime in August.
Now...Any suggestions from you Black Widow guys on a cure for the eight week wait time? :)
Thanks,
Ron
Good choice. My PL is my favorite bow. It just "fits" me. Show us some pics when it arrives.
In the words of Tom Petty.....The waiting is the hardest part.
I think you will like it, I have a PLX and a PSRX both with the Toby grip 48@28. What grip and specs. did you order?
I shot my PL yesterday evening. I am amazed at how quiet it is. great bow
I ordered a 64" PLX 50# @ 28". Toby grip with beaver tail wrap. The riser is going to be myrtle burl/Zircote combination. The limb veneers on the back are going to be spalted/myrtle burl and the belly is going to be tiger myrtle. Limb cores are bamboo sandwiched between layers of yew. Should be a very nice bow.

Sounds like a great choice!!!
As far as the wait, I have nothing. :bigsmyl:
One of the things I'm really glad I did when ordering my PLX was to not put red in the nose of the bow. Mine is cocobola (to match the riser) and black phenolic; it gives a nice and somewhat unusual look to the bow when looking at the back.
My Widow longbow is by far my favorite bow of any bow I've ever shot -- and I've shot quite a few! I hope you enjoy yours as well.

I left out the Red as well and went with a Black accent in the riser mixed with Zircote and Myrtle Burl.

You can't go wrong with a Widow!
Should be a nice looking bow. As for the wait...I have had to wait on a few bows and it seems like forever. You could buy an old bow and fix her up or refinish it. It worked well for me in keeping me occupied.
Congrats!
Much enjoyment and fulfillment may be incurred from elevated anticipation.
This is a short wait in comparison to other custom bows that I had built but regardless its still eight weeks. I'm pretty sure the wait on this one will be worth it. I'm really looking forward to getting this bow in my hands.
Ron
Congrats on a fine choice.
Congrats, the Widow boys build fine bows.
Go to the hospital and have them put you in an induced coma for eight weeks ... goes really fast that way
Congrats! It should be both a looker and a shooter!
I found the best way to pass the time is to spend the next eight weeks getting everything done on your honey do list that way when your bow comes in you can spend the next eight weeks doing nothing but shooting your new bow.
I see we have others that had to tough out the wait for a Black Widow. Good advice. 24 hours has past since the initial order so I'm now under 8 weeks. LOL! :D
dont be suprised if it comes a week or 2 early... ive had that happen on more than one widow.. as far as the bow you will love the PLX they are great bows did ya get a take down ? well worth the xtra $$

I orderd the one piece this time around. If I like this bow the next one will be the take down for sure.
Ron
That sounds like a real nice bow Ron, and you know the drill.... We will be expecting pics upon its landing in PA !
I have had mine a couple of years now ( a funny fact, I ordered mine over the phone from a roof top in Iraq with some sporadic gun fire in the background in 2008!) ... And I still find it an outstanding shooter. I ordered it with the older LAG grip as I like a fuller palm and this combo really suits me and how I shoot.
Enjoy the tick tock!

Yes I know pictures are mandatory here. I can't say that my Black Widow order was as dramatic as yours. Wow!
Happy 4th of July and thank you for your military service.
Ron
So Black Widow adds insult to injury by sending me a DVD, 2014 Catalog and invoice. Down to 7 weeks wait now. :D
Haven't received the official confirmation yet from BW but it looks like my new PLX longbow may be shipping next week. The folks at BW have been a real pleasure to work with throughout the process. I can see why their customer service rating is tops.
