Yesterday, my friend Lynne and I shot a 3D course with our friend, longbowfanatic, at Winnebago Field Archers, Rockton, IL.
Early, it looked like rain, but turned out to be a great day.
First we had to check out our new bows, since it had been a whole year since we had shot together.
Dennis displayed his gorgeous Stewart Slammer and his Toelke Lynx.
We showed off my new Zipper SXT and Lynne's prototype Zipper. (She loves the bow...just not certain on wood combinations yet.)
Bill Dunn assured us all was returnable and we could order exactly what we wanted.
After a quick registration and a few practice arrows, we were off to the mosquito factory.
We weren't using Deet, but should have been. The stuff we had, worked, but left an almost plastic film on my skin.
Now to the point of the story...
We overshot a few targets but Dennis was uncanny in his ability to direct us EXACTLY to where the shaft was hiding.
In conversation somewhere along the way, Dennis mentioned that his wife called him Denny, at which time Lynne coined the new phrase.
"The IDENNYFIER"....the man who can find all sorts of lost arrows.
Folks if you ever get a chance to shoot with "longbowfanatic", FEAR NOT!
You will NOT lose any arrows.
We had a great morning which ended with a delicious burger in the clubhouse.
A fish gaff works, by pulling it through grass.
I use my Brittany. Buddy finds them in the snow too. I show him an arrow and say 'Find em" and away he goes. I think it is my scent on the fletching.
What? You guys don't have the new GPS nocks yet? For those of us who aren't IDennyfiers or Arrow Dowsers or bloodhounds.
How does one become so good at finding arrows that miss the target? :biglaugh:

Good one! Haha
Longbow, Can you come shoot in NY? I have a few dozen waiting around for you in the woods.
I think I could use an Idennyfier around here.
my Golden Retriever " Jasper " was the ultimate arrow finder, he was amazing
I've often thought about smearing my arrows with bacon grease and having my Chocolate Lab find them.
Maybe I could invent a new arrow lube. :D
"Shooter" has joined us on many a 3D course, when club rules allow. He's very good at staying behind the shooting line until we fire.
GPS nocks...I love it. It will probably be reality some day.
Stickbow...good question! I suspect the"IDENNYFIER" has had some practice chasing errant arrows like the ones I shot.
Maybe he will give that credit to his other shooting partners. :dunno:
