I'm not sure if I have read this or heard this before or even heard it wrong. It was something about how he didn't like to hunt with someone who didn't carry game bags because they didn't plan on killing anything. If anyone knows about it please chime in. It always amazes me how many people I see go into a big hunt without them, like they don't think about taking anything home.
I didn't look through them all but try here:

I doubt Fred said it, he was a great person and would go afield for the hunting experience. His quotes pretty well sum it up.
Not Fred Bear, but I believe this expresses it well:
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted.
--- Jose Ortega y Gasset, _Meditations on Hunting_.
I think that I read something to that effect, but it was Dwight Schuh (Bowhunter Magazine) that said it.
