Im looking for info on different bow quivers for a greenstripe takedown I recently acquired. Im not sure I want to use the screw in the side of the riser as this bow is in almost new condition. What are my options, whats a converta bracket or quiver? i know it will mount in the stabilizer hole. What are some more modern choices? Im shooting ( dont cringe) full metal jackets through this bow right now. Any info would be appreciated
I use, mostly, the original Bear quiver with the top spring arm and I pad the bushing lower side with self adhesive moleskin, never made any scretch to the finish.
Otherwise I use a EFA velcro limb quiver.
Some good advice there. If it has bushings on the side,I would use them.If the quiver brackets are properly lined, there should be no finish issues. If you are worried about it,you can put a neoprene washer between the quiver bracket and riser.
The 7 arrow quiver that Bear makes for the TD is a good one.If you want lighter, the EFA's are as light as they get and excellent.Using the side bushings probably gives you the most options.
What Felix does. I like the eight arrow, but usually carry five. Next favorite is Great Northern strap on, or bolt on. I have a Green Strip that came with a hole for the upper bushing, and bought the insert from 3 Rivers. If you do go with their side mount, the bolts come with two different thread patterns for two different bushings. GN can answer that question, or someone at 3 Rivers.
My greenstripe only has the original screw on the lower portion of the riser for the bear quiver of the same era so side mount quivers wont work. I wonder if the bear quiver will hold full metal jackets. Probably will end up with a EFA. I really would like to hunt elk this fall with this bow. Thanks for the replies
If the holes are too big for the FMJ you can buy/make those rubber bands, sold by Black Widow, that reduce the space or buy a replacement rubber holder sold by 3 Rivers.
You can find a pic and post today of my Bear Type I TD with the original Bear 8 arrow side mount that has a spring arm on the upper. These are still available in the classified, or online.
Fantastic bow by the way!!
