Title: Trail String
Post by: Pine on June 25, 2014, 08:58:00 PM
I am just curious : do any of you still use the string across a deer trail trick to determine if it is active or not ?
I don't own a trail cam so that's how I do it . I learned that trick in the early '70s . I think it is neat because I don't like electronics but if I had a trail cam I would use it . I think I would use the string to figure out where to set it up though .

I have used that trick for years, very effective if you check back regularly. I think the advantage to trail cams is they are time stamped but I have never owned one, prolly won't either. As I have gotten older, seems I am not as mad at the deer as I was. Infact I used to get up before daylight in all kinds of weather just to Killem.

Also the little trail timer. The string stopped the clock,,,,,sometimes. I found some parts I had ordered in the 80's for repairs about a week ago,

I remember when I first got in to hunting some guys would use the trail timers. They had the string and it was a watch inside of a dip can.

Funny, I just found one of my old trail timers.  It brought back a lot of memories.
