I don't even know where to start... Epic. My nephew tagged along with me for the trip and we had an absolutely phenomenal time!

I can't say enough about it! This is my first guided hunt and Jerry epitomizes what I would picture a bear guide being in my mind! He is a terrific host and has some pretty hilarious stories. An absolute pleasure to be around. He can also be a stoic fella and the room quiets when he speaks. Its for good reason because everything he said proved itself to be spot on repeatedly. For example the best example being when he told us to snap a twig if a bear gives us grief. When the first bear to try and explore our brush blind with us in it(yep, we had gooks in the wire more than once) was coming in, i remembered Jerry saying to snap a twig, so I did. That bear boogied on out of there in a hurry. Well that was a confidence builder so it wasn't so bad when the second one tried. When the boar charged us from behind it was a little unnerving and we snapped a big stick instead of a twig and it meandered off. Thats right we were charged too! It was epic and by far the most fun we have ever had! My nephew and I will talk and laugh about this hunt for years!
I should have read between the lines when Jerry said he can never get anyone to hunt off the ground without a blind other than himself. I am glad we didn't catch that hint and can talk about our adventure for a lifetime!

Jerry's trailing dog "Bear" was a joy of a dog to be around also. Very well mannered and extremely good at his job, especially since he's only 9 months old.

The camp was composed of some of the finest men a person could ask to share a camp with! I made a few relationships that I believe will last, with people that I am proud to call friend. Unfortunately I didn't have the good sense to get picks with them all. Here is a pick with my nephew and myself with "Uncle John".

Heres my nephew with what he calls the "Mastigouche syndrome". He was wore slap out on the drive home.

He sat every hunt with me, and is already saving his money so we can go again. I only regret that I can't do it every year!

I had the pleasure of killing a beautiful sow and the honor of doing so in a camp with a terrific guide and exceptionally wonderful company. A man can't ask for more. This is my first trad critter by the way.

Heck of a first!! Congrats!
Outstanding!! Hate I didn't get a chance to hang out. Congrats on your first-first. We had good folks on these hunts.
Congrats on a fine first trad critter. Enjoyed the pics and story.
Big congrats on your first trad kill!!!
:archer:
Outstanding pics! I chuckle every time I hear about your hunt and the thought of "Kong" breaking through the brush. Congrats on your first bow-killed animal. There will be many more!
Tell Tyler hello from me and that somewhere Money Mike is telling him to "get his feces coagulated" :biglaugh:
Good job young warrior!!!!!!! ( LOL (: ) I am proud of you. Looks like you got that ole crooked stic shooting straight. Congratulations, talk later.
Stan, I wish we could have shared camp a little longer... John says that you are the man I need to talk to about a GA bear hunt ;) Maybe there???
DocMike- After watching King Kong come out of the woods, we could help but giggle at the guy that charged us! I didn't want to go into to much detail about all the craziness that happened because I am gonna try and write an article for the PBS magazine. I am gonna try and tell it like we did when we got back to camp ;) would you be up for proofing it for me???
Tyler laughed, but I saw a little concern in his eyes hahahaha, i think money Mike put the fear in him!
I will check things out, my honey hole got molested by the local guys after I killed my first one a couple of seasons ago.
Congrats to you again and a pleasure meeting Tyler as well.
Congrats again! Happy for you. Sounds like a blast.

Awesome hunt, and a great bear. Congrats.
Congrats on the Bear and good time. Bear camps are some of the best because you always get to meet new people of like mind, there is a lot of "hang out" time and the hunting is in the evening so no super early mornings.
Great time of the year when bear season starts.
Congrats!
I wish I could have had a camera to get a picture of your face when you first described those bears climbing into your brush blind! Man you were on FIRE with excitement. It was an epic event when you told the story of "Kong" rushing your blind. People talked you your hunt story long after you were gone.
It was awesome being a part of your first trad kill experience. I hope this is not the last hunting camp we share. You boys were a hoot.
Hey Jerry, speaking of, I am gonna call you today to try and grab two slots for next year! Hopefully I didn't wait too long!
That is a good looking bear. And you had a good time also. I have to say that stick you shot it with looks crooked to me.-- :scared:
Hahaha, it is Mike, and it definitely did its part of the deal! When I get the one in that you're making for me this one is going to be retired but I don't think I can ever part with it!
.........the "HUNT" is actually a small fraction of the experience , but you already know that and have the memories for a lifetime .
Congratulation ...
on your successful journey (babamadizwin) !!
