Things finally came together last night (this morning) after 11 nights of hunting, I finally got a shot at a good grizzly here where we can hunt them over bait. After 2 seasons, I've learned that contrary to some opinions, getting a mature grizzly or brown bear over bait often proves to be every bit as difficult as spot and stalk hunting. Anyway, this bear came in chasing a black bear at 2:20 am and stopped broadside at 13 yards. I was using a Bear's Paw Avian recurve at about 66# at my draw length (30 1/4"), shooting Easton 250 FMJ's, with 155 Grizzly single bevel broadheads...arrow weight was 750 grains and the slightly quartering to shot passed through like butter, taking both lungs.

Nice bear!!! It is crazy to think you guys up there have daylight like that at 2 in the morning. That would drive me nuts
Congratulations on a fantastic bear!
That's awesome!! But I do hve to ask are you running vanes on your arrows?
I am running vanes, they're cheaper, quieter, and mostly because the weather conditions up here can be awfully detrimental to feathers.
I admire you guys that keep it all together when one of those monsters pass within range. Great pictures. Congratulations!
Good Shooting,
Craig

That's a great pic! I love the ring on your finger in the pic above it, too! Where could a fella get a ring like that?
Congrats on a great bear and great shot!
One of the biggest accomplishements with a trad bow, congrats.
Awesome grizzly..... Congrats
Wow - just a great hunt. Congrats!
Curious - do the die like black bear and just fall over when you hammer both lungs like that or do they go a long way? One bear is probably not science but just curious how far you had to track him? I find black bears to be soft in that regard and rarely go more than 50yds if hit well.
Again, congratulations on an awesome trophy!
Congratulations on another amazing Grizzly!! Give me a holler. I can hardly wait to hear the story.
Bill

Bobby, I saw Chuck Adams speak years ago about the Griz/Brownie he arrowed. Double lung @ 15 yds. and the bear went 175 yds.
Love that story, and a cool wedding band as well.
Great Bear, congrats!

Thanks everybody! finally made it back to the computer so i'll try to get some questions answered, I had the ring made here in Fairbanks at a jewelry shop called gold rush fine jewelry
Beautiful bear! Well done
Glad to see you folks are enjoying the pictures! Although I killed an even bigger one last year, it never gets old.
You're right JR, it is a sow...surprisingly big for a sow, but she was very old, from what I've seen, I'd guess possibly 20 or better..rear teeth are worn almost completely down and green. I got a green score on the skull today and it's 23 4/16".
She didn't go very far at all, about 40 yards. The two I've shot expired very quickly, it seems like if you double lung them and they don't know you're there, they only have 10 seconds or so before they pile up. This one made it about 10 yards farther than the boar last year did!
Congrats! Nice bear!
Congratulations on a fine trophy. That is terrific.
Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Wow! Very Impressive. Congrats.
Wow, that takes some major nerve control to be that close to one of those monsters , and then take it with trad gear. Congrats!
