Hey everyone, I have a new to me PMA 47@29 drawn to 29.5. Lots of folks say they like a stiffer spine. I would like to try aluminum, What do you think would get me close in a 31" arrow with 125 up front? My Fedora is 60@29.5 and likes 75/80 doug fir with 125 up front. Thanks for all the input.
Andy
2016 or 2018 maybe.... I have had better luck with carbon or FMJ's out of my PSA. They do like a stiff arrow.
I've had luck with 2117s out of my PCH, had a MA they shot well out of too. 2016s and 2018s also shot well, 3555s and 5575 GTs shoot well too in carbon for me.
2117 or 2020 would be my first choices. Good luck and enjoy your new bow.
I would try a 2114 they cover a lot of ground. They do shoot good with diff. poundage.
2016's .... I really think 2117's and 2020's would be too stiff
I had an MA 55@28 and draw 28 and I shot 2018's cut to 29 1/2" with 125 BH's and they shot great, but for your set up 2018's may be a tad stiff but worth a try
I'd try 2016's, 2018's, 2115's or 2215's. 2117's would take a lot of point weight to weaken up for you. 2213 is also an option, but I don't like the thinner-walled shafts, because they're not as tough.
2020's are a tough but heavy shaft, so either the 2020 or 2117 setup would end up pretty heavy overall.
If I were you, is go for the 2018's and find a length and point weight that works for you. A common shaft, and relatively tough.
I'll try a few. The Stu Miller calc says 2117 cut 30.75 and 125gr point. Seems a little stiff to me.
2016- 125gr up front.......2117- 200gr up front....I shot them from my Widow with the same specs.
