Title: 55lb bow for my 9yr old son
Post by: leftyfred on September 22, 2007, 09:29:00 PM
Just received a new bow that was ordered for a nine year old.  The bowyer is James Vanover of Michigan, a talented bowyer, great person, and great friend.  I own several of James' bows however they are all left handed.  Knowing Kyle my son will hunt one day, and also loves James, I pre-ordered him an adult bow that he can use one day, knowing that the bowyer will not be around forever.  The specs are, all cocobolo with bamboo core, 62" 3 piece, 55# @ 28".  Just a beautifully crafted work of art, that is very quick and quiet.  Nice work James Vanover.  LF    (http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa320/jpyeatt/P9220013.jpg)      (http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa320/jpyeatt/P9220018.jpg)    (http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa320/jpyeatt/P9220013.jpg)    (http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa320/jpyeatt/P9220023.jpg)

Beautiful bow John!  Kyle is one lucky lad!  Hope you and your family are doing well and you have some time to sit in the woods this fall.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. I remember buying my infant son trains, slot cars, and other fun stuff before he could crawl. Of course I had to set them up and make sure the toys worked.

I mean, you have to test it while the bowyer is alive, right? You need to make sure it will tune properly. And the string needs to be stretched in so it will be ready for him later. And this may take one, two, three, or a few hundred practice shots. Now, wouldn't it be a shame to miss your first shot of the season because you were used to this bow.

Go on, use the bow. Nobody will find out. You know you want to try it.

Your friend, Satan.

It was a lot easier to explain to my wife too that the second ACS CX was really for my son and not for me; but now he is using it and just took his second hog.

I've shot 4 arrows from this bow, shoots just like my left hand models.  I am reluctant however to shoot to much right handed, it messes me up sometimes.  Hate to get all bewildered right before whitetail season.  I really don't enjoy shooting right handed anyway.  God designed me alot different than anyone else.  My right arm is actually 2 full inches longer than my left.  I draw a true 30" left handed and a true 28" right handed.  Plus left eye dominant.  No brainer.  LF
