The poor boy just gave up his compound for a longbow recently and it delaminated on him today. We just got everything tuned up this past weekend and he has a half dozen arrows and a quiver in the mail that he spent all his money on. We just got him two matching water moccasins in the last couple days to skin his bow with too. He is pretty upset about it.
He was asking me if he could skin and sell his moccasins. So I told him to start going and getting some snakes and skinning them out. Then he could get the money saved up for a new bow. Would anyone be interested in Moccasin or copperhead skins? Thats all we have out here.
You should have no trouble selling those skins. I'd be interested in 2 pairs.
what you want for the moccasin skins and are they really dark or one of the lighter ones?
They look dark to me, but they are still on the snakes and in the freezer. I don't know anything about that sort of thing. I can make sure that he does a quality job of skinning them. How much would a good pair be worth? We've got a pair of copperheads in the freezer too that I was gonna put on my bow after my bear hunting trip, but I told him he can have them to try and make some money. I've got to help my little hunting buddy get another bow ASAP.
Let me get him to skinning them and I can send some pics to anyone interested. Just PM me.
I hope it isn't stepping on any toes since I/my nephew aren't a sponsor here. Just trying to set up a 15yo to make some cash for another bow. Don't want to be some kind of dealer, just want to help him get another bow so we can get back to doing fun stuff.
I would say $50 and up for value, depending on length, color, ect;. Copperheads go for more than the cottonmouths. I may be interested in one whole also for taxidermy purposes.
Right or left handed and if left handed what weight ca he handle? I have a 60 inch Bear recurve at 50lbs I'll give him if he is left hhanded. Ric

This is tradgang!
:clapper:
PM sent.
Guys, thank y'all very much for the generous offers. They are very kind and speak very highly of the people on this site and the trad community in general. I am going to have to decline though. He has always played ball year round up until this year and never had the opportunity to work and earn something by his own hand. This is gonna be one of those opportunities for him. He is already skinning snakes out and trying to hustle up any other work he can find.
Fortunately I am having another Crooked Stic made (insanely great long bows and a wonderful bowyer to deal with and extremely under priced!), and the bowyer had never made a 58" longbow for a 30+" draw. He sent me a prototype (phenomenal bow!) today to test out and shoot until he has mine made. My nephew loves it. I told him about my nephews bow and he cut a little off the price for him if he wants it. I am gonna make him earn whatever his next bow is by his own hands, and hopefully it will solidify a lot of good things in him!
Thank you everyone, once again. He has some snakes getting skinned out if anyone wants some, just PM me, and that should put him on his way. Thats also teaching him to be entreapunural and think for himself hopefully(spelling???).
You sir are very welcome. Ric
Bud B. Thank you sir. Ric
We've been gone on a trip and just got back. Mike Miller of Crooked Stic bows made him a tremendous deal on a bow. He still has to come up with $280 to get it though. He's got some moccasin and copperhead skins in the classifieds under my name.
