Title: CENTAUR LONGBOW LOOK
Post by: chadt1 on June 03, 2014, 10:07:00 PM
I have a chance to buy a used centaur longbow glass model. Limbs are tulip wood. The bow has a few scratches but has been hunted with. The bow is a 08 model. 475.00 shipped and insured. Does this sound like a fair price for this bow. Thanks for your input.

Not a bad price at all considering the 12-14 month wait for one and how wonderful they shoot.  It's a good price.  Maybe not a Walmart bargain but certainly not overpriced for what it is.  If condition is less than 9/10 you could likely negotiate a couple more dollars off but the price is certainly in the ballpark.  These bows were built to last a long time.

I paid 500 for my glass bow built in 2012 and it has the XTL lam but I would consider it a steal. One thing is for sure if you don't buy it someone else will

Very fair, I'm betting it wouldn't last a day in the classifieds at that price.

Had one of those for a couple/few years - a Selway "Lil Mag", which ( as Jim confirmed ) was really the original Centaur.
Fine bow. I paid a little less, but then mine was older than the one you're considering, and before it became the Centaur we recognize.
I believe a new glass Centaur starts at $750, so you're looking at a $300 savings and no wait.
I wouldn't mind one bit owning one that fit me & my specs.
