Finally, they've started moving inshore to my favorite bay!!! Only saw a few roll, most were belly to the bottom and the water is muddy. I shot at two, killed two with my new fishing set up, a 50# Montana. Only got pics of this big male.
Next week should be a hoot with the shallows slap full of slimy targets. Let the carpocalypse begin! (http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o244/2crazyboys_photos/IMG_20140521_111710355_HDR.jpg) (http://s122.photobucket.com/user/2crazyboys_photos/media/IMG_20140521_111710355_HDR.jpg.html)
AWESOMEEEE :clapper:
Awesome! Nice carp and pic.
I've been aching to go too.
Be on the water this weekend, heading up to saginaw bay next week, BIG carp there and alot of gar.
Izzy where in New York are you seeing fish already, I went out for five hours on Monday in the finger lakes region and never saw a fish. Did you get the rain last week the we got here? My favorite lake to bow fish is up by about 2 feet and looks like a glass of chocolate milk, I couldn't even see a fish there unless it was half out of the water
 Things should be starting up here anytime. One of my favorite times of year.
Bill
I was out Scouting for fish before the opener last week.
I saw about 30 or 40 but only a few that would have been able to be shot at.
With the rains and Muddy water, they are definitely a little put off schedule but will be moving into the shallows quickly this weekend and after.
Next week Tuesday My friend and fellow trad ganger, Kat will be coming over. Most of the fish we will see and shoot at are 10 lbs and under but it should be a target rich environment.
Just finished getting the bow ready.
Hopefully, with a little luck, I will be on an all night trip on may 31st.
Congrats Izzy on your fish! :clapper:
Alex, He is near Albany.
Not sure if he was on the river system sloughs or on ponds but they are starting to move in.
The area I saw them in was the old Erie canal (now closed to boat traffic). The water warms up there faster than the Mohawk river. Most of the fish I saw were sunning themselves in deeper water. The shoot-able ones were in shallow water just at dusk feeding.

Im out on the eastern end of the Mohawk River. The fish have been starting up only to pull out again. Although we are a week or two behind schedule they're about to turn on big time.
:bigsmyl:
Nice fish Izzy. The rain kind of swelled the river last weekend . Hopefully I can make it out soon.
Congratulations!
Congratulations Izzy! :clapper:

Yes, imagine that? My guess is to keep folks honest should they stumble upon a walleye spawn. :dunno:
Nice!!
Good shooting izzy
Congrats
Got out last night for the 1st time since I shot the last 2. It was late , after 7:30 but I was given a reprieve from baseball chauffeuring and yard work after getting out of work late. Sometimes you gotta make hay while the sun shines.
For the 1st few minutes there was no activity but shortly there after I started seeing some fish rolling but way out in the channel. Soon they started rolling in the bay although infrequently. I waded out and spooked a few and with the low light and still cloudy water all I could see were plumes of mud whenever they darted off.
This one was move away quickly from right to left and started to get behind me when I swung with him and let loose hitting him about 10 yards out. 3 for 3 with the Montana long bow this year, Im digging it. They're picking up steam and should be full spawning by next week here in the Mohawk River.

Hey Izzy, I was out on the 28th. pretty hard to see with the cloud cover and muddy water. I will be out tomorrow night!
Congrats bud.
I wanna do some bowfishing one of these years. That looks like serious fun.
If any Montana boys need a deckhand over at Canyon Ferry in a couple weeks, I'm available :D

I was over at canyon ferry 2 summers ago in August and the carp shooting was great. I tagged around 20 in 2 hours. My friends from MT told me it was horrible fishing and I should be there during carp safari. The winning team the prior year had over 600 fish I believe! They said to challenge themselves during the spawn they try to arrow 3 with one shot.
Nice shooting Izzy! I made up a bracket for 2 mini mag lights, each putting out close to 240 lumens. It rocks for night fishing.
We had one good day, I took Joe and his buddy out. Those two shot them up good, the old man just pushed the boat around, although I did sneak in a couple shots :bigsmyl:
Greg Looks like you guys had a good trip the other night. Glad the water died down and the storm were past before you went out!
We had a similar night last night.
I managed my first Gold Fish, First Sucker and second Mirror Carp.
Some of the females were full of eggs, I figure the spawn will be coming quick.

Going to check a Canal soon.
I saw Spawning activity on the Colonie reservoir today. they were floppin pretty good, too bad you cant fish there :banghead:
Way to go , Izzy!

Got out last weekend by myself. Tough conditions with high water and wind. I did manage to pick off two of three

I call this spot "Cade's Cove". He shot a real slob of a Carp two years ago. A monsters for this area.

This weekend I got out with my friend Timmy C.

I ended up two for three, Timmy also killed one

An awesome morning on the river. We saw deer, massive snapping turtles ,and found a Bald Eagles nest. The river was like glass. Maybe Curt can post a pic of Guru 2 s Carp
Nice fishing fellas, congrats. I killed one more tonight and was feeling good after going 4 for 4 with the Montana. I then went and missed the next 3 shots. Later on in the yard I was all over the place shooting my block target. Time to start slinging some flies and give the bow a few days rest. After spending the all nighter fishing, I went to a 3D shoot at 8, then afterward I walked the dogs before hitting the canal with my Buddy Aaron.
We managed to kill 4. they were out but just basking, most to far to shoot at from Shore.
I'm pooped but feel pretty darn satisfied.

Glen, I remember that Cove. Casey almost had his first in there but had to sit down quickly unexpectedly. The ruckus scared every fish for a mile.
Good shooting. Izzy, way to get back on the Horse.
