Would it be wise to get the sight inserts installed when ordering a Black Widow bow? I was going to get the sight insert and quiver insert installed and was wondering if most of you guys do the same. The model I plan on getting is the PTF II 58" @ 48#. What is the difference between a Split Fingers or a Three Fingers? What is the difference between the Standard Grip and the Asbell Grip? Thanks for the opinions.
Are you going to use a sight or a bow mounted quiver? If yes the get them installed if not dont poke any holes in it. Split fingers is one finger above the nock and two below. 3 fingers under is just that all three fingers below the nock. Standard grip and Asbell grip are differant in shape and it is a personal prefrence thing.

No sense putting any holes in there that you don't intend to use. If you are going to use a sight or quiver or think you may want to later, then I would have them put the inserts in.
thanks fpr posting the photo lefty. I have always wanted to know what both lookd like from that vantage point.
I would recommend that you take the time to talk to Toby, Roger or john at the BW shop. They are all nice guys, easy to talk to and very patient and helpful. If you are going to spend $1,000 on a bow, you should be certain of what you are ordering and feel comfortable that it will meet your needs. Good luck!
Don't forget to test drive one. I feel that is the best thing, you can shoot it for a week and see how ya like it. Your only out the shipping costs, which is good for peace of mind on such a purchase. The gang at Black Widow is top notch they will bend over backwards for ya. Be careful though once the black widow bites ya your hooked for life.

If you are going to use a quiver and sight, then have them factory drilled and tapped. I order quiver inserts on all of my Widows and ordered sight inserts as well on one of them. The guys at BW have always done a fabulous job, so its better to have them do add the inserts while building your bow as opposed to trying to add them after the fact.

Great choice of a Widow as well, their PTF is their best model performance wise and shooting wise as well. If ya ever want to sell contact me first! :bigsmyl: As the others have sai if ya are gonna use sights and a want a bow mount quiver have them installed. I myself like a boa quiver and do not use sights. If ya want to use a site or try one just tape a wooden match to the bow and use that as a sight. Shawn
The bow will look much cleaner without all the holes and inserts.
I get the quiver inserts on my bow, because I like the Great Northern side mount, or Thunderhorn two point (or side mount? not sure of name) small fry on my bow. If I weren't going to use either of these quivers I'd forgo the inserts. As foxbo says, bow looks cleaner without them.
I'll be going with a clean bow. No holes. I also love the look of the PTF. Now if I can only find someone willing to teach me to use a recurve in Western NY. I checked around and not many traditional clubs here. None near my home would be more like it. One up in amherst NY but I hear it's not a real traditional club, just some guys that shoot there. It's all compound bows around here and even the archery shops don't sell too many traditional bows. I'm going with a Black Widow but will do some more homework before ordering. Many thanks and keep the suggestions coming. This is by far the nicest forum I've ever posted to.
