62" BJ Buffalo Longbow 50@28" (I'm drawing around 51#) CX 150's cut to 29.5" 100 grs. up front and 175 grn Zwickey Delta 2 blade bh. Arrows are tuned to the bow and fly great!
Never hunted moose but I think you will be ok just make sure your broadheads are sharp.
Any other bh suggestions? Are the Delta's a strong enough head?
Two blades all the way, moose have a thick hide but die easy compared to other game. Straight flying arrows and hit it in the right spot and you will be fine.
Deltas are one of the strongest heads on the market. Especially since they started copper brazing them.
I'd probably prefer the Eskimo or other slightly smaller 2 blade for your set up though.
That setup should do fine. Make sure the arrows are flying perfect and the heads are as sharp as possible.
Mike
Not a chance. You need at least a 53# Mohawk longbow with wood arrows and a Zwickey No Mercy heads. That's what I'm planning on using. :goldtooth:
Thanks guys and best of luck to you on your hunt Dan! Personally, I think you're way over bowed :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
I want to hear some good stories this fall.
We aren't going til 2015. Lots of time to think and plan and dream
Good luck to you, Mike
I got plenty of time to buy some new bows so who knows what I'll be shooting
Mike, I killed the moose in my avatar with a 54# LB, carbon arrow carrying a Zwickey No Mercy SB with 750 grains total weight. Got complete penetration. If you've got good arrow flight, as you mention, you should be good to go. Good luck!
Todd
Thanks Todd! I appreciate the response. Best of luck to you too Dan
Curious what your total arrow weight is?
Just under 600 grs. (597grs.)
Good Luck! on the hunt. If I didn't already have a committment I would be going on that Moose hunt with you.
Have fun! Keep us posted on the hunt, I can't wait to hear your stories. I hope to go in the next few years, so your experiances will be helpful.
I had complete penetration on a bull moose with a 56LB Toelke Lynx Longbow and the 530 grain carbon arrow with 275 of those grains upfront. 12 yard shot
Thanks guys! Hope to share the adventure with y'all when I return!
