Spot and stalked to within 25 yards of this bruin..........the GN Lil' Creep and 600 grains of eclipse tipped fir did the trick. Pass through into the dirt about 4 inches back from the shoulder. He made it about 35 yards after the shot. First big game that I "creeped out" with the GN. Hide squared 6 foot 2"

Darcy, that is freakin' awesome! I'm more than a little jealous. A bear with a bow is my current biggest goal. Congrats on a beauty!!!
I knew for sure that Snag's arrows were works of art, good to see that they are functional too. (Though I had a sneaking suspicion that they were. Lol)
Congrats, again!

Thanks guys. He had a lot of fat left over from last fall.......he must have been pounding the berry patches pretty hard last year.

Great Job Darcy!
What knife of yours did you skin him with?
Beautiful bear! Spot and stalk bears is a dream hunt for me! Congrats :campfire:
Nothing wrong with can hunting, but spot and stalk makes for a true Bear hunt in my opinion. Great hunt, great animal, and a great bow. All compiled by a great hunter......big congratulations and thanks for sharing your hunt and the plug for snag and the lethality of a wooden arrow. High fives Darcy
Great Bear,Great Shot! well done!
Now that's what i call bear shaft tuning.... :saywhat:

Thanks guys.
I used this beast to field dress and skin him. I have found that I can do most things with a well designed big knife that I can with a smaller one, but also do the heavy lifting that a small knife can't do.
This is pretty much my go to size and shape for an all purpose, backcountry blade after many years of trying different shapes and sizes. right around 9 inches of blade, thin enough edge to slice with ease. Heavy and long enough to chop well. Works for me.

Thanks,
Yup, clean pass thru. Washed it off, just needs re-sharpened and it's ready to go again. These fir shafts are tougher than I expected, I was used to ash, which is pretty tough, so I figured these would be more fragile than what I was accustomed to. I think they are pretty close to the same......ash doesn't dent as easily as the fir, but seems like they are pretty similar for impacts with hard objects. I have managed to break 3 of them so far, and of those, only one exploded, the others just broke off behind the point. I'll just taper them, glue on a steel blunt and use em to chunk at spruce chickens this fall.

Now That's a knife mate!
Congrats , great Bear!
