looks like I am going to own a couple, I have owned lots of bows but never a pronghorn. Would like to hear some comments I have always heard good things about Mel and his bows.
You will know in a day or two. Smooth, quiet, no hand shock, and tosses an arrow with authority. Herb makes a quality product. Maybe Shedrock will chime in, he evidently owns about a thousand Pronghorns. This is the bow you are getting, before it became adorned with diamondback skins.

Well, here is mine. 56@27, I am around 60# at my draw length. Stable shooting is a very good description.

I love mine smooth and quiet . Wouldn't trade for anything
I own three of Herbs bows, one is a 3 piece with 50,55 and 60# limbs. They are great bows and the only reason I dont shoot them anymore is I started to make my own.
His shoot better then mind :)
I have a 3pc. Fast and smooth one of
my favorite bows.
I have three T/D Longbows and a T/D Ferret Recurve. Herb is a great guy and a wealth of Archery knowledge, not to mention he builds an exceptional bow.
Top notch bows by a top notch guy. I own more than my share of pronghorns.
I am on my third Pronghorn. The first two were one piece long bows, and I wanted a three piece for easier packing.
Probably down a ways on the list of attributes but, sooo easy to string a Pronghorn. I always have to pay a lot more attention when I string my gracefully tipped recurves. It seems to be about as indestructible as a take down bow can be.

DITTO!!!
Well Guys, my Pronghorn from Centaur arrived today all I can say is I wish I had bought one twenty years ago. Thank you Pat.(an excellent man to do business with)
Bill, I think that there is still some mojo in that bow, and I am happy as all getout with our trade. Pronghorns are great bows. Enjoy!
Ive had a couple of them. I liked them. Good shooters. My bro has one of his 2 pc longbows. He will never get rid of it. I had one of Herbs first 6 he built. It was stolen by my bros friend years ago.
My TD Pronghorn is my go to bow. I judge other bows against it. I would like to get a set of 46# - 48# limbs soon.
How interchangeable are the limbs from one riser to another does Herb have to fit and retiller.
Last I heard he did not make extra limbs unless ordered with the bow. Would love an extra set. So...if someone knows if he does, plz let us know
Herb makes an excellent bow, mine performed well for me on safari in 2006. Great guy to work with. He has some pics of the wildebeest and impala I was fortunate enough to harvest on his website.
I inquired about having foam core limbs made for my bow as I was thinking about a weight reduction. Herb responded that he only makes them with new bow orders. I do not know if that applies to standard limbs as well or not.
I just decided to work with the set I had. Just a few shots most nights, and it is coming around. I think it turned out to be a good decision.
My all-time favorite 3 piece TD longbow....
:campfire:
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
I would like to buy a three piece in the 50 lb. range
I have a few extra limbs that I've found work great on my two Pronghorn risers. They even fit a metal Black Swan riser except a little long in the butt over hang :)

Bill, look at Rocky Mt. Specialty Gear's site. They have a Pronghorn with 2 sets of limbs for sale; 53@28 and 56@28.
