So I got a 2014 Fred Bear Custom Kodiak Take Down back in Nov and shoot it fantastic! Shot two does with it in Dec even. So here is my question I pull close to 29" and I have a B riser and #1 riser ie 60" bow. They don't make the 2 limbs anymore so I have to jump to 64" bow. How much smoother will the #3 limbs be at 29" draw then the # 1s? Need some advice stay or play....
Haven't tried the #1 limbs, but I'm shooting a B riser with #3 limbs - as Col. Sherman Potter said - "there aren't enough o's in smooth to describe them."
Play a little - life is too short not to.
Your draw will probably increase a bit from the extra smoothness.
I draw 29" and have several Bear TD bows. A set of #1 limbs on a B riser is very smooth at a 29" draw. No need to go to longer limbs unless you like a longer bow. I have found a Bear TD that is 60" long (either A with #3 or B with #1) is just about perfect for my 29" draw.
Hmm keep it coming gents!
Chad I draw to 29.5 and with my B riser and #1 limbs I have no pinch or stack. I recently went from a 64 inch longbow to this rig. All I can say is wow! It works great turkey hunting...we will see about bears next month :)
Yea mine is really smooth to different feel in the left arm do to the grip being different then my long bows but I think the body is getting used to it. I shoot it fantastic
I agree that any 60-inch riser/limb combination on a Bear T/D will work well to 29 inches or so. That being said, the longer limbs will be smoother. Still a fair selection old #2 limbs available.
I will probably buy a set at some point to try and for back ups. Longer is smoother most always.
If you can find a set of #2 RER limbs they are an ideal compromise between the #1's and 3's on a B riser. Only problem is Kevin no longer makes them.
My draw is 30" and I definitely prefer the #3 limbs.
I have two sets of #3 limbs for my Bear risers. My draw is only 28 in but I do notice a smoother draw especially with the 60# limbs. The other set is Rose Oak and are 55# at my draw. I can shoot these all day like my 55# longbow.
If it is all that smooth, why be concerned about whether the second selection would be better? On second thought, this is a perfect excuse for another bow, so we will expect you to get it and file a report very soon.
Yea I've looked at the RER and they are steet with the static design and all.
Rose Oak is a 8 month wait which isn't to bad.
Wish I could test drive them and go from there. LOL
Rose Oak is now making #2 limbs as well as their great #1 and #3 limbs. I highly recommend Rose Oak limbs. They are fast, smooth, stable and quiet.
Yea I talked to Brandon a couple weeks ago need to fill out the form and get it back some time soon. I think black glass was just over $400. Bear limbs are around $340 probably hundred difference.
I draw 29" and unlike others here I did not find the #1 limbs particularly smooth; I noticed the stack for that last inch or so. They were fast though. The #3s are smooth but I didn't like the Bear TD as a 64" bow. That's just personal though as I have other 64" bows I am fine with.
#2s are the ticket for me. I had the RERs and they were nice.
I'm not seeing an order form at roseoakbows.com for takedown limbs, just for the ultra delight recurve.
call Brandon at Rose Oak he will help you out or email him...I love mine on my bear takedown very smooth and fast
I have several of the Bear takedowns. A risers with #3 limbs and B risers with #1 limbs, both combinations make a 60" bow. I draw 29" and have no problems with stacking with either set up. The #3 combination may be a little smoother and the #1 combination may be a little faster. Both make for a nice bow.
I have several pairs of Brandons #3 limbs. I use them on B risers and they are very smooth. I also have Bear #1 limbs and at 30" there's a little stack, but no big deal. At 29" you're probably good either way, it's just a matter of what length you want to shoot.

A lot is my bet. You will love the 64 inch set up- its super quiet for a recurve. That characteristic was what impressed me the most when I owned mine. Bears are not known as long draw bows, but the 64 will handle your draw length.
