A few months back, I talked to South about building me a heavier weight bow for my trip to Australia. As usual, I let the craftsman himself choose the wood combinations...
A couple days later he called to ask me a question, He said "would you mind if I built your bow using Cade's riser." "Cade's riser???" I asked. Then he went on to tell me that during the bow building process, he had mistakenly built a right hand riser for Cade. I immediately told him of course I'd be willing to shoot Cade's "twin" riser!
Here's Cade with his Stalker.

Here's a look at my "righty" before it hit the spray booth...

Very Nice! Someday I'll have one.
Here's a quick look of the bow after coming out of the spray booth.

That's a beauty, Ryan! And it should have its own share of mojo built into it too!

So the bow arrived and after a quick tune, off to the field I went...

After reaching the highest point on one of the ridges that I prefer to hunt, rustling in the distance caught my attention. The noise got louder and louder. Something was headed directly to Staci and I. We both got to our knees. With myself in the lead, I nocked an arrow and got ready. At about 20 yards I got a visual of the critter, it was a huge hog and we were on it's trail! At about 15yards, I made an amateur mistake and the gig was up! No bacon for us that day because of my error. But for the very first trip all I could think of was, this might be a "lucky" bow!
A week of work passed and it was back in the field for us...

Although we didn't have any close encounters on this trip, it turned out to be a great day to scout. Due to a long rainy reason, the goats had changed their pattern and we weren't able to find them until that day. It was too late and too far to try and make a stalk, but I knew where I would head on the next trip.
On this day, I headed straight for the area that I assumed the goats would be in. After only a hour in, I was stalking a few feeding goats. I got to about twenty yards, but unfortunately the wind switched and off the goats went.
Taking a break, I had a snack and traveled on. After crossing a ridge, I heard a billy chasing a nanny in the dry river bed. I got to my knees and picked up my binos. A minute after spotting the billy, he turned and started to climb the hill towards me. I readied my bow but due to a blind spot I didn't know if he would pop up below or above me. Suddenly at 10 yards he popped his head around a tree trunk. With no shot, I just sat there and hung tight. Unfortunately, he had an uneasy feeling, turned around and walked the other way.
After a couple mins, I decided to head in his directions hoping that the nannies were still in that area. Sure enough, The nannies were in the grass feeding. I slowly crawled my way towards them. At 15 yards, I picked out a single nanny, drew and loosed my arrow. The arrow struck home and off the nanny went.
My "lucky bow" had harvested meat for me on that day but the luck was not over...

See! I predicted the mojo in my earlier post. And there is more to come!
Congrats on the nanny!
Bisch
Sounds like the fun for you is just beginning! Now....tell us what happened next bud.
:campfire:
Damn thats a beautiful bow Brother and keep it coming!
Thanks Gang!
Definitely some mojo Bisch!
Aloha!
Ryan
So on this specific day, I decided to go in a little further and climb higher. After reaching the top, I stopped to look and listen for goats.
Fortunately, I heard a few goats to the right of me. My hunting partner and I quickly descended and headed to the sounds. We reached a point where we were surrounded by feeding goats. Some were below us and the others were directly to the right of us. We decided to break apart. He headed to the right and I slowly crept down the ridge.
Slowly and steadily, I crept towards the feeding goats. Ensuring to remain undetected, I stayed hidden below the grass line. At 25 yards, I stopped to locate all the feeding goats. One brown billy had caught my attention. He was feeding to my right and I decided to take pursuit. All the goats were still unaware of my presence. Ever so slowly I crawled in the direction that he fed. Together we reached a point where the distance was closed to about 15 yards. I got to my knees took aim and fired my arrow. The arrow struck where I was looking. With a complete passthrough, the billy took off. I watched as he pulled the herd with him. One by one I could see the other goats reveal themselves on the other side of the ridge. I didn't see the brown billy and had a good feeling that he went down.
Given what transpired, I felt really confident and inspected the area of first impact.

May I ask why you switch back and forth between the two quivers? First pic shows a camo'd GN I believe and then middle pictures are a different one, not sure of make, then last one is again the camo GN. Just curious. Beautiful bow!
Paul,
These images are from different hunts/days. Someone asked me to try out that quiver for them and give them some feedback. I tried it on a couple hunts and shot it a bunch of times at the range. It's now headed back to the owner.
I'll be posting up the final pic soon too. For this image, I took off the quiver momentarily, because I wanted to show the riser and not block too much of the animal.
Thanks,
Ryan
After giving it some time I took up the trail and here's what I found...

This bow has got some serious "mojo" and with the way Cade's season is going, I'm hoping this "luck" will continue for me...
Great job, Ryan!
Congrats on the new bow and the two goats!
Hawaii is definitely on my bucket list!!
Congrats Ryan, nice goat.
Great pics and good job, looks like a great time. Very sweet looking bow.
great job
How much more luck could a bow have than be a twin to Cade and Ryan's bow.
Fantastic thread and quite appreciated in our off season. Great work Brother.
After seeing the luck of these two I wonder what South could sell the triplet of these bows for? Of course I would be happy to have the luck of the twin bow to FerretWYO's Stalker on my next elk hunt.....

I've been making everything with goat meat. LOL! Curry, chili, roast, stir fried with veggies, smoked and grilled with teriyaki sauce.

Awesome! Looks like you have really got to grips with the extra draw weight. Can't wait to hear how your trip to Oz goes :)
what a shot you put on that critter. Nice work man.
Thanks William!
Even though it's at my upper limit in terms of draw weight, I'm really starting to like it! If things go as planned, I'll be sure to keep you posted!
Thanks Randy, this bow really seems to "point" well for me... I think I'm sticking with this grip!!!

LOL Danny!
Yeah, that may not be the best way to break in your new Huntsman...
Man Ryan, every time you take that thing in the woods, something dies.
Charlie, you wouldn't believe how bad of a "dry spell" I was on previous to this...
Great story so far. Great looking bow - is it a 64"?
