I'm just applying the finishing touches to my first home-built selfbow, rawhide backed Osage, 73" & 60#@31" and in my downtime I figured I really ought to make up some proper (non carbon) arrows.......

Full length tapered cedars, 3 fitted with Snuffers weighted up to 200gn, 3 that I hafted with beautiful knapped points made by my good friend Woody Blackwell.
Keep your eyes open in June & hopefully I'll be posting a story about how well they perform!
Looks like your ready Rob, those stone points look amazing!
Pics of your bow???
Only way your arrows would look better if there was some blood on them!
... mike ...
You should have no problems seeing your arrows. Those stone points look awesome. Those look great.
Pretty cool......
Very nice arrows and flints
Good stuff there, Rob! Now all you need is the bear!
Regards,
Jed
Those look real good...........esp the ones with the rocks on the end!
Good luck on the bear hunt! I am headed to Alberta next Sat and can't wait!
Bisch
Man those arrows are lookers, but you forgot a pic of your bow bud.
Those stone heads look awesome! That will be a cool feeling sending one through a big bruin's chest with that selfbow you just carved up! Good luck on the hunt Rob.

Hope you pass the initiation rites soon!
The hardest part will be choosing which one of those beauties to put on the string. I vote for the light blue one.
looks like you're ready Rob.
Looking good, Rob. Good Luck!!
It gives a totally new meaning to throwing rocks at the deer. All the arrows look great but the ones with stone points are especially fine.
I've seen Robs bow in person. I was at the Tenn Classic as he finished it up and shot the course. With these arrows it will be his bad if he misses the opportunity to put one of these arrows into a bear but my money is on Rob.
One suggestion, if I may Rob...add a bit more wrap behind the stone points. I would suggest an inch long sinew wrap. Better safe than sorry! d;^)
PKHS
(Pat knows his stuff)
Adding Woodie's work into the mix adds to the chances that a bear will give itself to you. Good man, major mojo.
Killdeer
Hey Killie. Nice to see you around.
:wavey:
Hi Killey!
Pat, I followed Woodey's instructions for hafting these heads. Epoxied them in place & tightly wrapped & bound them with unwaxed dental floss. Coated the whole lot with TB III. I'm 100% confident in them, which Ithink is 99% of the battle ;)
Good luck buddy!!
Okay, so a few folks asked about the bow, well, here she is.
73" tip to tip, rawhide backed Osage with buffalo horn tip overlays & a beaver tail grip.
I stained the rawhide & did a little camo job. It came out a little more orange than I expected, but I like it!
It draws a hair over 60#@30"
Be gentle, this is the first selfbow I've built!

Stone. Definitely stone!
Nice job......I'm glad your going stone, it's fitting with that bow!!
Rob, Rob, Rob...you expect me to follow you in camp AFTER you kill a bid 'ol Bar with one of Woody's heads AND a bow you made yourself...dammit mate!
I will be there the week after with my Bear recurve and Autumn Olive aluminum arras and won't even be cool :) Looks awesome! Can't wait to see the results!
Rob,
Very nice set up all the way around! For a first "self bow" I think you did an outstanding job and the camo looks great also in my opinion!
Cool setup Rob...you won't regret making that decision. Hope to see a hero pic!
:archer:
Good luck Rob. I would have to use the stone points first....but that's just me. Looking forward to your pic and tale when you get back.
that is some fine lookin work
That is an outstanding set up you have there Rob. That bow really looks good. I wish you the best with it.
I also got to see the bow at the TN Classic. He did an awesome job on it. First selfbow or not Rob you did a great job. I sure hope your goes as well as your setup looks. Good luck.
The way you were shooting that beast of a bow @ TN Classic, I have no doubt there will be Bear Burgers next spring at the Classic. Good Luck Rob!
Sweet!
Good luck on your hunt...
Good Luck Rob, Get ya a Big One!
Looking forward to the story!
LD
I call dibbs on a bear burger next year..lol
I can't wait to see that setup in action.
Rob, I yield to Woodey's expertise! d;^)
Good luck rob!
OUTSTANDING looking bow Rob. I had a chance to watch Woody do his magic with rocks a couple of times , once in Texas and once in Ohio. He is one of the best and his points are outstanding.
Looking forward to pictures and the story on the kill.
your first selfbow? wow...hope my first comes out that good when it is complete. Now you are going to have me take a selfbow on my bear hunt spring 2015...using a vine maple for deer this season so who knows...but would be nice to have my hickory selfie turn out and be a success to use next year. :)
good luck...
