I just bought a KME knife sharpener today but the Zwickey 4 blades won't work well in them. I'd like to just hear some feedback on other options. I'd like something in a screw in around 200g. I want very solid construction and can go with either a single or double bevel. I'd prefer something without a needle tip that might bend on bone contact. I set up for a big boar and want to feel confident that I can shoot at the low shoulder and get solid penetration without a BH construction failure. What would you guys suggest in those specs?
Hey Zane how's it going? You could go with anyones two blade that is a glue on and just figure out what adapter you need to make it 200 grains. Silver Flame has one that is 210 grains. VPA has the Penetrator, they are super tough looking and have a tanto type tip.
Many good broadheads out there with those specs.
I'm currently using VPAs and very happy with them. Strong, easy to sharpen and precision machined...
Tuffhead.
Steel Force Phathead. Super thick steel and their sharpening guarantee is pretty awesome.
This the fun part of arrow building :) so many good choices
Go with Simmon's they work best for me.LCH
Take a look at Tim Strickland's Helix broad head. Solid construction, easy to sharpen, and they come in a ton of different weights.
Vpa/woodsman.
I should specify, the three blades won't work on the knife sharpener so I'm looking at either a 2 blade or one with bleeders that are removable. Can you sharpen the Simmon's on the KME?
Jeff, I'm looking forward to building some new arrows when the new centaur arrives. I haven't had to worry about it in awhile because those arrow dynamics fly great with just about any weight on them.
Ron at KME now offers a curved Hewlett 3 sided diamond hone to sharpen concave BH's like the Simmons heads.
Let me know what you decide on. I like when we compare notes. I've been doing some experimenting lately in the opposite direction (moving down to 150 gr heads). That Centaur is gona want a stiff arrow.
You'll have to spend less money but Ace Broadheads are made here and are very consistent in quality, ferrule fit and sharpen easily as well.
125gr grizzly single bevel and a 75gr insert.
Or, just use what you got but bend the bleeders till they snap off (or bend enough to clear the sharpener). Use pliers and they snap off just fine.

Simmons Tree Sharks leave BIG holes! do a search for the broadhead carnage thread and you'll see plenty of simmons carnage. The Zwickey 4 blades are easy to sharpen though, take a look on the How to forum and look at Terry's videos of how he sharpens them. It works really well and gets them razor sharp. Just finish with really light strokes with the accusharp.

What do you sharpen the Helix with?
VPA's...hard to beat head that has everything you asked for.
Abower broadheads are another option. Great company, tons of options, and strongly built.
My GK Silverflames get nasty sharp on my KME!
Bisch
tuffheads are hard to beat in a two blade head for being durable and sharp.

Zane, the Tusker Delta factory screw ins 195, or the Tusker Aztec 200 factory screw ins would both work very well for you IMO. The Delta's especially would like your KME.
We have both the Deltas and Aztecs in sharpen yourself or pre-sharpened "Bloody Sharp" versions.

Of course we carry the excellent Simmons heads as well but they'd be tricky to sharpen on a KME IMO.
Zane, how bout Centaur heads???
I'm going to look into all the options listed and see what I come up with. One concern is price. I hunt a lot of hogs and you don't always get those back so I'm not wanting to spend a crazy amount. I'll have to see how much the Centaur heads are. I know the Tuskers tend to be affordable, as are the grizzlies.
What do you sharpen your Zwickeys with now? Why chuck an excellent head? No rule against having two sharpeners.
I'm with Orion on this. Zwickey's are one of the best heads out there. If what you have is working for you, I would not let a sharpener be the deciding factor in choosing a head.
Hey TexasStick81, which Zwickeys do ya have? Terry Green and some other Tradgangers are having great sucess with No Mercy 4-blades on hogs. Orion and Stagetek speak the truth, it ain't nutting wrong with Zwickey broadheads; 2 or 4 blade! ChuckC also has a great idea. Make a couple of your 4 blade into a 2 blade if you want to try some out. Real easy to do.
I've got to admit have not read all the replies have you considered Magnus SS Stinger broadheads. It's all I've used for years. Bleeder blades are removable and you can sharpen to your hearts desire! Works for me.
Tuff durable blade that works out of any bow set up you may have
Grizley
I'm a big fan of Simmons and VPA. VPA for three blade and Simmons for two. I prefer a three blade for pigs because I have found that a two blade has a tendency to seal up on their fat hides, therefor loosing blood sometimes.
I go back and forth with the idea of 2 vs 3 on pigs. I've used the VPA's and many different 2 or 4 blades. It often comes down to the three blades seem to hold the hole open more and there is more cutting surface but on big pigs I often don't get pass throughs and when shooting from an elevated stand nothing is more detrimental to a blood trail than not getting a pass through with a downward angle entry. I'm going to get back into the two blades for now but I'm sure that will only last so long:)
I'm using 175gr VPAs with my Black Widow this year. Easiest head I've ever sharpened.

Bevel angle is about 40 degrees so the kme won't work. Most guys lay em flat and sharpen the flat side. I prefer grizzlies or tuskers. ymmv
