My Bows are spread out all over the house and I'd really like to buy or build a rack of some kind for them. Looking for some ideas on design. How do you all store your bows?
I just use a rack I bought from 3rivers. It comes as a kit,and I just stained/poly coated it. It holds 4 bows. Then I made a few wooden pegs that are along its sides on the wall to store a few more in an un-strung vertical fashion. rat'
I have all mine on a rack in my studio. The type where you store the bows unstrung horizontal. I got the rack off the auction site. Well made and easy to put together. It holds 10 bows, but he also makes I think an 8 bow version and I think he also makes the type where you can hang them strung too. 10 bow version cost about $94 shipped from Ohio. You might do a search on the site I speak of ;)
Actually, I'm fairly certain the vendor on the auction site I am speaking of is the same guy who makes em for 3rivers. You can check their site also.
Honestly, I could have prolly built one myself, but I was in the middle of getting settled in from moving into a new house so I chose to get something solid and easy quick.
4 boards joined to make a rectangle of required size and then enough pegs/hangers to hang your bows horizontal. The type where you could hang several bows strung could also be fairly easy to make. Just need the right tools.
I used a 1/2 piece of plywood for backing. Then I put some left over laminate flooring in the middle and framed around it with some 1x4's with dowels for hanging. Mine came out pretty ok and didn't cost anything since I used left over materials.
Be sure to build one that will hold more than you need. Once they have a place to go on the wall it seems like bows tend to multiply rapidly....kinda like when I bought a gun safe lol.
I'll try to post a pic when I get back home to take one.
Here is my rack, built a rainy Sunday afternoon:

I can't buy more bows, there is no room left! :bigsmyl:

I'm a one bow man. I keep mine in the corner of my bedroom on a peg. I want to make a small rack for it some day.
need some pics - i am thinking of putting a rack in my new trophy room.....
i was thinking of getting some elk sheds and being able to lay the bows hoizontally on them, but i think that will just get too big.
Try a woodworkers website like Wood Crafters. I made mine by modifying gun rack plans. I rotate my " hangers" with the ones I store in cases under the beds.
I have some like this

And others less organized
Knotty Pine Boards bought at Lowes along with pegs. Lay out, drill holes, glue pegs, hang on wall. Each holds 7 bows.

I store mine on pegs very similar to those Bjorn shows in his photo. I think that's a very good way to store them & takes up less space that some other ways.
I hang all mine in my Man Cave above my garage. They seem to keep breeding:) I hang them horizontaly.
It holds 18 and is full

Here is the one I referred to earlier made of half inch plywood, laminate flooring and 1x4's. I made it to hold eight bows and I only had four at the time. I figured it would never get filled up. The top and bottom bows are on nails wrapped in foam now so it holds ten bows.
I also made one the same way to hold my two compounds and the wife's compound. I put dowels at the top and bottom for stick bows and they are now both holding two bows each.

Here's a link to a topic I posted a few weeks ago regarding another bow rack I cobbled together.
Wow thanks for all the ideas. Originally I thought I'd only need one that can hold 4 but now I realize I should get one that holds 8.
Lots of great ideas and some sweet bow collections. Thank you for all your replies it is much appreciated.

I have a coat rack mounted from which I suspend my recurves. I have several gun racks for my longbows. I don't actually display my longbows, because I keep them closed up in a sleeve.

I like the idea of taking an old mirror and using it like this.

This rack is simple but works well. Two of them will hold six bows horizontal or one will hold six vertical. Also can make it your self with 1x2 wood and some three inch pieces do dowel rod. Stain and poly if like wood look but to really show off bows paint rack the wall color. Rack blends in and puts focus on the bows. I have them horizontal above a French door and vertical rack in the closet.
