So my friend bought me a dozen Bloodsport 2 Carbon shafts 5575 (with small plastic fletching). I have a 45 lb longbow. My wood arrow length is 30" with 125 grain tips.
Is there any reason I can't get these cut to 30" and put some inserts and tips on and start shooting?
I've only ever shot wood arrows.
What's the spine of your wood arrows? You may have to load up the front end of the carbon arrows to shoot them out of your longbow.

You will probably have to use a raised type rest with the plastic fletch and I think you will find the 5575 to be quite stiff unless you go with a pretty heavy point. Leave them full length so start with.

A 55/75 arrow is around a .400 spine which may be pretty stiff for a 45# longbow.I never cut a carbon without shooting it first,I let my tuning determine the arrows final length.It may be possible it would work depending on how close to center your longbow is cut.And if left full length and load up the front end.I would strip off the vane and leave full length with 200 to 250 grs. upfront and see how it shoots bare.I find you can't compare a carbon arrow to wood or aluminum.
My wood arrows are 50-55 with 125 grain tips at 30" long. My draw is 28.5" (bow is 45 lbs at 28.5"). I'm willing to have the vanes removed and replaced with feathers, just wondering what it is going to cost to re-fletch, but to length and add heavier inserts and field points/broadheads. Am I just better of selling them to someone and sticking with the woods.
What I do to test my carbon arrows is to start full length and push in the inserts with some saran plastic wrap.This will hold the insert in snug enough for shooting and testing.You just need a softer target like a bag target that doesn't grab too tight on arrow removal possibly pulling the insert out in the target.You can try different insert weights and point weights to see if the arrow may work for you.Just strip one arrow first and try it? If they don't work maybe sell them or maybe trade them for a lighter spine carbon like a 35/55 .500 spine carbon.They will work better then the .400 spine arrow unless you add say a 100 gr. brass insert and a heavier points.If they don't work for you then you have only stripped one arrow and not glued in any inserts.Will make them easier to sell or trade.
