I received my new JD Berry Taipan last week. It is 68" 49#@31". Macassar Ebony handle, bocote veneers back and belly, bamboo core, with bloodwood and white bamboo accents. It's a fabulous bow. I took some pictures and attempted to upload a couple videos (links at bottom of thread) Not sure if I did these right. I must have b/c some little squirt posted a comment that I sucked…I immediately disabled those, lol. I'm a little out of form on shooting due to an injury so take it easy on me! I'm shooting Carbon Express Heritage 150's 31.5" 515gr.
James Berry called me Sunday to find out how I like my bow. We talked for over 30 minutes. He really loves his craft and takes great pride in his work. I'm really happy with the Taipan! It is incredibly smooth and a pleasure to shoot.

I have two on order, one for me and one my grandson. .. can't wait after looking at your bow!
-
I've never seen tips like that on a bow. I like that a LOT! Cool bow, congrats!
-
Bryan, what a beautiful bow! Thanks for posting. I'm pretty excited because I am on JD Berry's list for a new Taipan. James is a talented bowyer and fine guy who really cares about his craft.
-
Congrats Bryan! That is beautiful. The Macassar ebony looks good with the bocote!
I talked to Mr. Berry the other night myself... :-)
-
Bryan - why in the world did you have to go and post these?! Congrats on a beautiful Taipan and good luck with your recuperation.
James - you're killin' me here!
-
Absolutely gorgeous, love the woods and what James does with his risers. Definitely on my short list.
-
Wow, that's a great looking bow! Congrats.
-
Woo Hoo!!!! Taipan's rule!!!!
Congrats on a great bow.
-
I've been on the list for a Taipan for about 3 months now. These pics don't make the wait any easier. :biglaugh:
-
Thanks for posting the pics, that's a beauty!
-
Bryan, very nice bow!!!!!
-
Very nice bow,congratulations!
-
Wonderful bow Bryan. All of James's bows are top notch from his straightlimbed to duo-flex but I have to say the reverse handle bows have stole n the spot light for me. And specifically the taipan has rocketed straight to the top at my house. The taipan has literally everything you could possibly want in a bow and all others just seem to be fighting for top spot.
-
Awesome!
My taipan looks very similar. I just posted in product reviews of my recent experience with Mr. Berrys' customer service.
-
If you need my mailing address so that I can help you wean away from those pretty bows just let me know.
-
awesome bow, thanks for the pics and vids...looks smooth as can be on the draw.
-
 Looks great, maybe an update later on how it shoots.
-
I can not speak for Bryan but I was shooting mine today for quite a while and these Taipans are flat out amazing
-
Brian, this is the best bow I've ever shot. If I was a one bow guy this would be it! Hope you are well buddy.
Bryan

Well Bryan, knowing the vast array of top end bows you have owned that is a bigbig statement outstanding I am glad you are as pleased with yours as I am mine

I also have a Taipan. Mine was made back in 1999, and has yew cores. I bought it off e-b-a-y from a pawn shop, and It was so beat up when I got it, it was just pathetic. I ended up sending it to JD and having it completely refinished, and just received it back about two weeks ago. It was so beat up, that by the time he got done refinishing it, he had to re-write the rated poundage on the bow from 53@28 to 49@28. I was not disappointed, It is an amazing bow.
My bench mark is my 48# A&H one piece, and there is nothing out there that can out perform the A&H, but that Taipan is close. My next favorite next to the A&H is my Toelke whips, I have three of them, I also have three Berry's. JD Berry's and the Toelke's are neck and neck, but that Taipan is......., all I can say is I love my Taipan, I also love my Morningstar and my Argos.
If you have never shot a JD Berry, you are missing out. Mark my words, JD Berry will become a legend.
-
Congrats on such a stunning looking bow. I haven't shot a JD Berry YET, but I look forward to crossing paths with one someday.
-
Beautiful Bow!
-
9 month wait I remember when it was a two week wait. I shouldn't have told everyone how nice his bows are!
-
9 month wait now? I'm not surprised, and worth it.
-
When I got on the list, it was about a 7 month wait. Everybody needs to shut up about these bows, at least until I get mine. :bigsmyl:
-
it was 2 week wait when I got my vixen, then 6 weeks for my misty dawn, so I pretty much put my name back on the list the second i get one lol
-
So what brace height do you guys find works on the Taipan?
-
When is this going on the classifieds......lol. You know I'm a good customer.......
-
Snag, I have a 66" Taipan and James recommended 6 3/4".
-
I run 6.5-6.75 on mine
-
nice bow
