Hey everybody, been a member since Jan. (first post) learned a lot from all the other posts though. My question is how many arrows approx. does everyone shoot in a weeks time and do you think you can over do it?
I feel good when I can shoot twenty five a day and I try to shoot every day. However I learned long ago that if I start making errors in form I stop and put the bow down.
100 to 120.
Couple dozen a day and try to make em all count and work on form holding the bow at anchor and having good concentration seems to.work for me too many and ya tend to get sloppy
Probably 200 a week......and yes, you can overdo it if your body isn't in shape for shooting. Build up slowly and give your body a rest day once in a while.
Thanks for the advice looks like I might be over doing it...not easy to stop when you love shooting as much as I do.
About 300 per week - easy does it to start or your form will suffer.
This is when it's good to have a lighter weight bow for practice and training that is built in the same or similar style to your heavier bow(s). I start out with 40 a day on my 48# bow, usually on 4-6 days per week.
Once I'm feeling ready, I will take my two 58-pounders out for some limited stumping, but I hold off on longer sessions until I'm feeling well tuned in the back muscles.
I know I'm doing it right when I can feel the effect on the back muscles immediately after a practice session, but there's no pain anywhere from my fingertips back through my arm and shoulder to my back.
This winter hardly any, couldn't really get into the backyard, and the club was out of the question. Other than these unusual circumstances, about 100-150 arrows a week.
Well, I try to shoot every day. On bad weather
days I shoot indoors. As far as how many
arrows it varies, it want good form and
release. So in a weeks time I get a few
dz arrows the rest are what I call
WHAT THE HECK
I would say 100-150 a week unless I can make it to a 3D shoot or go out stumping
I used to shoot 50 to 100 shots a day and did for many years but later realized towards the end od the session my shots were getting sloppy so now I shoot a couple of dozen when I shoot.
Once you get your form down and your muscle memory developed it only takes a few shots a day to keep in shape, both physically and mentally.
At least 200 a week
Man, you guys have a lot of arrows.
I only shoot 3 or 4, but I usually shoot them several times.
:smileystooges:
I don't know exactly how many arrows I shoot per week. When I shoot, I try to execute every shot without a form break-down, as we all do. I shoot each session until I begin to feel fatigued. In the winter, I might only shoot for 30 minutes. During the summer, maybe an hour.
Around 50 shots a day, so about 350. :)
I try to shoot daily,, maybe 24 or so but I always strive to shoot quality arrows not quantity. I'll shoot a few do something else. You know like go to work or iron or what ever then shoot a few more. :archer2: If I start falling apart I stop.. I do not want to practice poor habits.
I usually shoot anywhere between 0 and 300 shots per week. all depends on the week and how stressful my day was.
If I come home from work too stressed out, I will not only develop bad habits but also holes in walls.
I try to shoot 20-50 arrows a day with an occasional day off.
Maybe 30-40 a day 4 days or so a week..more as the season gets closer
I try 20 to 60 shots 3 to 4 times a week. Every day if I can, but usually never happens.
I'm another that believes in quality over quantity. However many I shoot, I want them all to be totally focused shots. Prefer 10 good arrows over 100 sloppy shots.
I never count shots, and rarely shoot groups. I shoot one arrow and go get it. I think this helps with focus, and I don't get tired quickly.
about that many. don't know don't count em just shoot em until i have had enough for the day :biglaugh:
Somewhere between 100-200, I'd guess. Some weeks in winter, maybe a little less.
Don't shoot a whole lot of arrows when I'm shooting my hay bales, and stumping a few times (or more) each week maybe a dozen or three.
I think about 350-400 per week, trying to shoot every day.
Approximately 600
A BUNCH!
I usually shoot 5-6 days a week. Anywhere from 100-200 shots per day shooting.

In good weatherI try to go out in my yard for 10-15 minutes before I leave for work and then at night after dinner and take about 10-20 shots. Each shot is at a different range and a different mark between 10 yards and 40 yards. Overall 100-200 shots/week.
I'm having rotator cuff issues so I'm down to 80 to a 100 a week. During 3D season it would have been more like 500.
I think 150/week, unless the weather gets truly bad and stays that way.

Cootling,
You beat me to it. That was going to be my response.

I can't shoot everyday but when I can I shoot 20 to 50 per session. Can shoot one to three sessions in a day if you want. Shoot two to five arrows max at a time then pull from target.
Good practice not long practice is key. If get fatigued or lose full concentration you should stop. If not practicing correct form with full concentration then it's not practice just shoot'n around.
That is what I have learned from other members.
Welcome!!
