Anyone interested in seeing what it takes for South to craft one of his custom stickbows?
***Edit***
Here you go Gang! I still got a few things to work on, but it's completed for the most part...

Aloha,
Ryan K Sanpei
Yes sir! Count me in.
:campfire:
Absolutely !
Me too!!
Cool! South and I was considering sharing a "snapshot" of his bow building process.
Looks like I need to get back to work! :D
Looking forward to it.
Sounds good.
Bill
Ryan,
That would be brilliant!
Thanks
ME!!!!
Ummm..lemme see...YEAH!
Always love the build-a-longs here.
Does a bear poop in the woods? Of course we would!
No question about it!
Polar bears don't but I would still like to see the video Ryan
I just finished reviewing Ryan's editing, a couple of minor changes and he'll have it finished. It turned out killer, testament that a good editor can make lemonade out of lemons! He had to render over 3 hours of footage down to 20 minutes. Quite a task! A BIG thank you to Ryan for staring at the computer screen for HOURS on end, stitching together hundreds of clips and tying it in to the voice over. It's going to be a good one!
Yes!
Very much looking forward to this.
looking forward to seeing this one
Okay Gang, I finally got it uploaded...
Hope you guys enjoy it!

Aloha!

Pretty tricky putting it back on the first page Ryan. :D
It was the 3rd place I looked.
Ooops sorry Scott...
I'll be sure to add it to my other post.
Awesome work South and Ryan!
:notworthy:
That was "OUTSTANDING" :notworthy:
  Guys that is awesome, totally awesome! They shoot as good as they look too fellas!
Charlie
 that was very cool thanks for sharing. South builds some beautiful bows.
I loved it! I find the whole process fascinating. Thank you for posting.
Very impressive process. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice video. Enjoyed it.
Awesome job
Watching that was SO awesome!!
Well done! I wish my shop was that nice.
I still remember the time when South took me through the entire bow building process back when I visited his shop. From back then we both agreed that it would be something cool to capture on film.
Finally he had the time and Leonard (Blacktail101) was kind enough to run the camera. Leonard did an awesome job behind the camera. Usually I don't have enough material to work with when editing, but with Leonard in charge, I got the perfect amount of clips! Mahalo Leonard!!!
Glad you guys enjoyed the video build along!
Aloha!
Ryan
Very cool stuff !!! Thanks for sharing.
Bill
Very nicely done, love build alongs, wish we had more of them, thanks for the effort.
That was outstanding! Makes writing another check for a bow a little easier when you see all the time and material, not to mention equipment that goes into building bows!
Great video and beautiful bow work!!
Thank you for taking the time to share it with us. :clapper:
great job !
Thanks for sharing. Very interesting and informative!
I just got MY STALKER :clapper: to u-tubes coming)
Outstanding post Ryan and the video is super cool. Very interesting to say the least. Always wondered what a "build along" would look like.....and now I know. Beautiful bow South.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, that was an excellent video.
ChuckC
I loved watching it. Great job :shaka:
Outstanding !! Really enjoyed seeing all that goes into making a Stalker. South is truly a master at his craft. Can't wait to get mine back from South....:0)
Loved it! Wish we could see the finished product. Is South ever gonna put a veneer on the belly of the riser to cover the brass limb bolt holes? Thats what I wanna see. That would get me thinking about one. I had one and liked it. But I am waiting for that.
Thank you for all the kind words Gang!
Keith, yeah I still need to finish the video. We'll be adding the completed bow to the conclusion of the bow build. The Wolverine is exposed, but his Coyote models aren't. Here's my Coyote FXT.

That was a great video. I'm always trying to find things like that. I hope you put more up like that.
Thanks Rick,
Hopefully South and I will get together to get more stuff done. It's tough being separated by the Pacific Ocean. :D
Now I can understand why more people don't put together videos like these. That video alone had over 3 hrs of raw footage, 8 pages of narration and 18 hrs of editing time and we're still not done. :knothead: LOL!
Really appreciate the kind words from everyone. Makes sharing this stuff well worth it!
Sweet video! :clapper: Thanks for sharing.
That looks good Ryan. Sweet. Even better checkered like the one I had done.
A checkered handle is definitely a sweet addition!!!
Ryan and South, without a doubt the best video on bow making I have seen!
South your shop and techniques are wonderful, great job!
Keith, Glad to hear you like the checkered grip. Along with the static limbs South is making for my Wolverine he's also checkering the grip of my riser.
Oops, double post.
Wow, a true craftsman.
There is a lot of work there in both the bow building and the video editing , well done guys.
This video is akin to the Bear bow building on Rural Route One. Which to me was the bench mark in bow building videos.
Awesome...
Cheers
Mark.
Great video.
Occasionally a thread pops up asking why custom bows cost such a pretty penny....well, here's why :) . Lots of time and energy goes into these and each one is truly custom.
That was an awesome video. Man I had no idea how many jigs he uses!!
That was a really well done video.... And great looking bows ;)
The video was awesome and very interesting!! Very nicely done, Ryan.
South, you are a true artist and excellent craftsman. Quite a process and beautiful bows are the result!
Just the initial investment in equipment and supplies must be something. I wish I had a few of the machines you have for the work I do with wood. I know they are not inexpensive!
Very neat video.
Great video thanks for sharing!
That video was great. I had an idea but wow, what time and effort goes into the finished product.
I finally had a chance to watch the video yesterday.
Much more involved than I was thinking originally - I can't see anyone complaining about the cost of a custom bow after seeing that !
Great job, South and Ryan.
  Very cool!
Thanks for all of the supportive feedback! I'm glad you guys are enjoying it. I want to thank Ryan and Leonard again for their efforts in the project. Leonard and I just finished shooting the last of it last night. It is going to go on the Stalkers in the Backcountry DVD as bonus footage. You'll also be able to see the full version on the Stalker website when we (ummm...I mean Ryan, can't take ANY credit for the fine work he is doing)get the last of the editing finished.
Thanks again you guys, I'm glad you're enjoying it. It inspires me to do more! (Ryan..."OH NO!!")
quick update...
We completed the bow building video and we're almost done with "Stalkers in the Backcountry"...
We're be sure the let you know when the DVD is ready.
Thank you once again for all the kind words Gang!!!
:shaka:
Aloha!
Ryan K. Sanpei
Wow - great video, guys! Thanks for sharing it.
Great Video and Great Shop! Thanks for sharing... First Class!
Love it! I always enjoy watching someone who knows what they are doing make something beautiful out of wood. All the jigs and specialized clamps...etc are outstanding.
Was finally able to spend some time watching this. Wow is all i've got to say. South is making a coyote recurve for me. I was lucky enough to win it through the PBS big five bow raffle. Should have it by the end of June. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I'll post pics when I get her. Tim... I may let you touch it at Denton. :biglaugh:
