Just reflecting back on my past Trad. archery season and was thinking how busy my knife was because it had to dress 3 deer. It was given to me a couple years ago by a member on here Toecutter, thanks Nathan. How busy was your knife this past season?

My knife has been in a comma for years.

That's about what mine have been used for lately, Craig!
My knives have been unemployed for some time now.... :dunno:
I gave some work to 2 different knives last season. I broke the first one! I bought a new Helle from Dryad a month or so ago that is just itching to get busy :D

I have used my knives daily - opening envelopes, cutting string, cardboard, copper wire, and, oh yeah, a couple of years ago they (or at least one of them) field dressed a whitetail.
But, they're all shaving sharp and ready to answer the call if a Michigan whitetail gets clumsy and dumb enough to stumble by me this fall.
My hunting knives have been "resting" for quite some time now. Sharp and ready but "resting"...
The daily carry ones are busy though.
Got a new one the other day.Just itching to use my new Wayne Depperschmidt
Cleaned a pile of squirrels, my deer and had a partial helping hand on six other deer and a hog taken by friends Actually a slow year when I think of it.
that is a very nice knife, Stone Knife, details? My brother got me a new Buck Vanguard last Sept. Two whitetails in the fall, a hog in Texas with two javelina.

I'm hoping Nathan chimes in with the details on the knife.
Nice knife. Like the antique look.
Jim,
Great Pic and awesome knife.
I am on Nathan's list for one. From what I heard, these warm winters has made his waiting time near 10 years :smileystooges:
Care to shed some light on this brother? ;) :p :biglaugh:
During the season, my knife got bored and stayed home... and I never knew it.
pretty fond of ole Nate and his knives too!

wow!!! Brother they look yummmm
they WERE!
This past year my knife did not get used at all. It sure looked nice, though!
Mine was pretty busy on the deer, pigs, and turkeys, but I don't have any pics of it! I use a Havalon with replaceable blades because I am very sgharpening challenged, and so there are not many glamour knife pic opps for me!

Here is a pic of me giving my Bark River a workout.

we shoot a lot of deer here( lots with the ol smoke pole too- some with the bow- when the season is right)
but we have too- cos they're a lot smaller -these blacktails :D .
I think this last summer and fall I put 10 or maybe 12 in our freezer, and helped a few mates out as well- with another half dozen or so- and gave another 3 away to a single mum in town.
but that is all we eat besides salmon- no takeaway joints on island either.
man I sure do miss a nice big fat rump steak sometimes!!
my favourite knife is a knife a Norwegian friend gave me. it the one with the carbon steel blade in the pic below.

holds a razor sharp edge- and just strop it to keep it nice and sharp, and if I let it go too far- not much work to get the edge back.
its a little big- bit of a pig sticker- but think I am going to get one of the smaller ones, also in carbon
Since my daughter started hunting, I do less shooting and more gutting/dragging. She put me to work on 4 whitetails this last fall and I loved every minute of it!! Hopefully this weekend she put me to work dressing out a turkey! I spend more time with my knife in my hand then a bow or muzzleloader and that's just fine by me!
awesome that your daughter shares your passion
My Swafford Fin and Feather wasn't too busy, 3 deer and 2 turkey, multiple weapons. Slow year.

I like a guy that uses his loader and log chain to hoist up a deer to skin
