I am traveling to Cedar Rapids and am wondering if there are any archery shops worth checking out while I am there?
I believe there's still a fin and feather there.
If not south of CR is iowa city fin and feather and scheels.Thats about it as far as i know!!

if you can find the time to travel 2 1/2 hours West to Des Moines you would find a couple places of interest: Bearfoot Traditions, a store devoted completely to traditional archery loaded with a fantastic selection of used longbows and recurves along with a whole bunch of other cool stuff. It's a bit hard to find. PM me, if you want directions. Archery Field and Sports on the East side of Des Moines in Altoona is a wonderful place too. Not a whole lot of traditional bows on sale, but Irv and Pam Wagner are super folks. They have a big indoor range. And Irv has been a great advocate of bowhunters in the state of Iowa for years. And Irv has lots of cool stories about hunting with the greats. There's another archery shop on the North side... can't remember the name. Only been there a couple of times. Not a lot of traditional stuff there though.
You may want to look into wintersbowshoppe. Gene Winter runs it and is right down the road in Waterloo.

The outdoors store in C.R. isn't called Fin and Feather anymore. It is called Great Outdoor Traditions. Not a trad shop though. It is like a Gander Mountain store. Which there is one on those there also. Same with the two stores named above in Iowa City. Bearfoot Traditins and Wintersbowshoppe that were already mentioned above, are the only ones I know of relatively close. If you are up for a little road trip, the Pope and Young Museum is just north of C.R. about a 3 hour drive, in the town of Chatfield, MN. When are you coming? Squirrel and rabbit season are in. Deer season opens on Oct 1st. Give me a shout if I can help out in anyway. I live about a hour south, but get up there quite a bit. In fact, I will be to C.R. this Saturday.

There is a good shop in Rochester, MN - The Footed Shaft. The local Fin & Feather shop in Iowa City is into high tech wheels, but they are very understanding of us. They have a couple or three recurves on the racks and a nice indoor shooting range. If you want to visit and shoot arrows or shoot the bull, PM me. I live just 10 minutes out of Iowa City.
I'll second The Footed Shaft! Lamont has just about anything trad you could imagine and lots of things you probably wouldn't imagine. Make sure you have a couple hours though. The shop isn't big, but it is packed! The ceiling is decorated with old Bear bows. Lamont's good for a story or two as well. I bought my Kota from him and that's where I get my arrow making supplies.
I'll third The Footed Shaft too. He has good prices on shafts and other supplies.
Bearfoot Traditions would be your closest bet. Great shop filled with great bows. Tom has a range and will let you shoot anything on the wall. He is only open M-F after 6:00pm. Might want to call first, I think he may be out west. Not sure who is running the shop. It is worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to get to it.
