Title: Camp bow racks
Post by: yukon chuck on March 29, 2014, 10:18:00 PM
I am looking for ideas for a bow rack that I could set up around camp and when taking my camper to shoots and outings. Self standing rack would be best, but I am open to ideas. I would like to see photos of anything you might have made or bought.
Thanks

Thanks Hermon. I tried the search function a couple of times tonight, but my "request timed out" or something like that.
If anyone has any ideas other than what is shown in the link Hermon sent, please post.

A simple 1x or 2x4 with wood arrow cut off(or 3/8" dowels) to hang the bows from.

I know I can use a tree, lay on the ground or a truck tailgate, but I am looking for a cool way to put up 3-6 bows while the guys are hanging around camp. It's not so much a necessity as it is a cool aesthetic luxury and convenience.

I've since painted it and I have some pipe foam I can throw on it.

Nice idea Oregon Okie and will even work for those other arrow launching contraptions.

Make a PVC pipe and fitting square with T's in the middle of two ends.  Pipe coming straight up from the T's and elbow over and connect.  Have small pipe arms coming off middle or ends of the top bar to hold bows.  Can make so it come apart in few pcs.  Paint or decorate as you want.

Also. Metal Shepard pole for hanging up flower pot or bird feeder.  Get double hook kind. Push in ground and ready to hang up bows.  Easy!

You could do that same thing out of wood and stain it.  Use a couple leather or ?? Straps across the tops and build it so that it would fold up....kind of like a luggage rack in a hotel
room.   Would be pretty functional and stow away quickly.  Just a thought.

Planter hanger would work, fit 4 bows

No pics on this computer but I built a tripod bow rack specifically for shoots and  camp trips.  I used 1x2x 6 ft. furring strips connected at the top by a simple bolt and wing nut. For pegs to hold the bows I used 11/32 doweling. Holds 5 bows and comes apart for easy transport.
