Title: magic arrows
Post by: lan91 on March 28, 2014, 08:08:00 PM
I finally found arrows that fly perfectly out of all my bows. Gold tip 3555 full length with 125 grain points fly perfectly out of my Hoyt Buffalo 38#, HHA big five 50# and Bear montana 45#. anyone else have magic arrows?  :D  before finding these arrows I used spine charts and bought 3-4 dozen arrows that just don't work!

Douglas fir 65-70# with 125 gr points.  Everything I have shoots them relatively well.

Stumpkiller, sounds like we have similar setups. My Liberty Classic longbow loves 65/70's with 125gr pts. But, really, all of my bows have arrows made/tuned to them...no magic to it...but to just do it!

If you were to come over to my house to play and went down into the cellar the first thing you would notice is this:

I have a log ranch with tall cellar ceilings and a nice 20 yard range to the far wall.  I keep these so each of my bows has their favorite fodder available.  Some (the 65-70# Douglas fir with the last 12" tapered and 125 gr heads - the ones in the boots) seem to work with most.  But each has a favorite.  I also tend to tune my bows to allow for consistancy with the arrows I have on hand.

There are this many again on the other end of the cellar with blunts and small game tips; and then the "war shot" whitetail ready broadhead equipped arrows.

I have some 1535s cut about 30" with 125gr points and some 3555s cut 30.5 with 175 points. All fly quite well out of my 42# - 50# bows.

My 33# longbow likes 1716s with 125gr points.

I shoot 1535's & 3555's out of all my bows, I took 1535's elk hunting this passed season, they had 360 gr. up front and measure 28" long with 3" feathers. Flew great, with plenty of penetrating punch, unfortunately I never got a shot off, maybe next season.

I shoot GT 1535's, full length, 100 grains tips, standard nocks  and insert out of all my bows, which are between the 45 and 48 lbs.
In fact, I like them so much, I have 72 in stock now.... The low price of Big Jim's blems made me greedy....
