I found several endless loop strings I had stashed in my gear box. I measured them and found one of them would be a close fit for my bow. I strung it up and found the brace height to be about 1/4 to 3/8" to low. Can I twist up the string like a flemish twist string to shorten up the string.
Yes
It seems to me that a little twist would quiet it down a bit too. :dunno:
I do it all the time. Yes
You not only can twist an endless, you should. A little twist will keep the string from "parachuting", which will help make it quieter. Wheel bow strings are endless--they always have twists.
Mike Fedora said to twist them a few times to keep them round
I was told not to twist mine up, but to use the knotted in loops to adjust. For the record, this is with composite shooting. We served every few inches with a few wraps to keep our strings from parachuting. I'm betting knotted loops aren't present on your strings. I know if I did it to mine it would suffer in accuracy (found that out by trial and error.)
I have a feeling that our endless strings share only a name, though.
halfseminole- can you post pictures of these "knotted loops"? Or better yet, the entire bow and string. I am not familiar with what you are talking about. Thanks

There you go. I shoot a Scythian type bow (made of PVC lol) and it wears a string like the one in the link.
That was interesting about the knotted loops, and I see where the Turkish war bows had deaw weights up to 160 pounds!!
Cant imagine how my shoulders would feel if I tried to draw that bow! Oof!
Thanks. That is interesting.
I pull about 60 now, and I'm working my way up. Wheelchair works your arm perfectly for a bow. After I hit 75 I'll probably reward myself with a true composite.
