I wanted to show you this wood. I've never seen it before (maybe I've led a sheltered life  ). We just got this Firefly in, the veneers are called "Waterfall Bubinga" and man is it an eye popper!

The riser on this one is Bubinga, but not Waterfall.
Here's another look.

You can see the rest of this bow here:

Nice work Jim! :D
Started using it on Chek-Mate's several years ago. It is a dang pretty wood--it's on my wife's bow limbs. My all-time favorite is still Tamo ash though--wish I knew how to post a picture........
Chad
That is purdy!
I agree with you Chad, Tamo ash is something else. Terry has a moab that's flat drop dead gorgeous.
Here's a pic of "waterfall" Tamo.... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/recurvhuntr/Stuff/Tamo.jpg)
That stuff is awesome. I have read that the Waterfall effect comes from the veneering process, so it cannot be had in board form. That is a good looking piece of ash by the way. :D
Cody
Beautiful!
Had a Checkmate Crusader w/waterfall bubinga, it was just plain pretty was a Cujo Special if I remember right..
I have that Bubinga on my Morrison, Unfortunately the glass is so bad I plan to skin it this winter. Your right though. It is purdy!
WOW!!!!! .....purty !!!!!
Chad sent these to me to post also...

Those are some beautiful woods!!
Looks like a dark curly or quilted maple.
Thanks JC--one of these days I'll figure out how to do that.......
Pics never do these woods justice--especially when I'm behind the camera.
The Tamo ash kinda favors maple, but it's fancier than any maple I've ever seen. Looks 10 times better in person.
Chad
Dean,
That Cujo Special Crusader was something to behold wasn't it. That was my first custom stickbow. I should have held on to that thing. Oh, well. LOL!!!
Chad, you are so right pictures do NOT do this stuff justice.
That Beeswing stuff is cool too.
Chad,
The waterfall bubinga looks a lot like birdseye bocote.
Bill
So many pretty woods....I am begining to understand how many men succumb and end up with so many pretty bows. :)
They look quite a bit different in person Bill. The bubinga has a reddish hue, and the figure is quite a bit different. Both are really nice though.
Chad
Tim, Back to your original post - You are lucky that I didn't see that waterfall bubinga Firefly before Mr. Jones shipped it down to you. It would have never made it to Missouri...it would have taken up residence in my bow room. That is a beautiful bow.
I just took delivery of another new Firefly TD longbow from Jim last week. This one is LH so that I can hunt lefty until I get my right shoulder fixed in Nov. This new bow is one of the "India Ink" models - plain, but really classy - and man what a shooter.
Good luck hunting to everyone.
Ron
I hear you Ron. Keeping the Firefly inventory out of my personal bow rack has been well...let's just say challenging. :D
