Title: Shrew hills

Any body have Greg coffieys. Shrew hill longbow  and how do you like them?   Pics.

A few of us on here have owned them.  I had the pleasure of owning a gorgeous second hand 70" 55@30 African blackwood riser, boo core, yew under clear glass one that had the nicest beavertail grip I've ever seen on a bow.  It was my favorite Hill style I've ever owned.  The proportions were just perfect.  Limbs barely 1" at the fades, the very tips were only 3/8"...and yet it had a 2 1/4" real deep grip in a unique wedge cross section that just forced you to hold it correctly.  It was right handed and I let it go because I shoot primarily lefty.  But I still miss it.  If I could have that same bow in a left hand version I'd have my lifetime Hill bow.  They are so quiet and smooth with just the right gentle bump on the shot.  I spoke to Gregg Coffey at length about how they were constructed and they were very difficult to make.  A lovely design.  It would be interesting to see if Ron gets Chuck Deschler to try and make them.

I liked mine, very snappy bow. Ironically I prefer my Javaman Assyrian I traded it for better.

I see that Gregg Coffey said that they are difficult to make.  That difficulty could be why the differences between a great Hill style bow and a not so good one, from any builder, is very subtle

I shoot one of Chuck's Echo longbows. It is a true Hill style. I can assure you that Chuck could put together a Shrew Hill but I'm not sure you would like it better than his Echo.

Agreed.  But if the Shrew Hills would still be based on the design of the Blue Duck bow of Ron's then they would be different than the Echo.
