Hey folks. A little back story on this one....an old man who lived beside my grandpa his whole life passed away a couple months ago. He was a farmer and avid hunter and outdoorsmans his whole life...he was in his mid 90's when he passed and hunted right up until the end. He took many deer, turkey, ducks, etc over the years. He had quite a few old mounts that his family had no need for. They gave quite a few of them to my wife because she is a taxidermist and they thought she could use them for something.
One of them was a nice little six pointer he killed in 1985. He had a shoulder mount done on it and (as was the norm in the 80's) put it on a plaque with all four feet turned upwards.
I saw it in the garage and immediately had a perfect plan for it! It had that little six on it...which in 1985, in this part if the world, was a wall hanger for sure. But I can't put anybody else's kills on my walls because it just doesn't seem right.
I pulled the head off and put a two of my European mounts on the board. I used the feet to hang my 50th anniversary Black Widows on. It came out pretty nice. I'll post pics shortly.

Very nice!!!
Thanks guys! I had the wife come in to look at it once I got it done. She loved it....til I pointed out that it left two empty spots on my other bow racks that I need to fill now. She then said, "That looks like $#!+....you don't need anymore bows!"
Shag, Thats using your noggin... really looks good and has a history to it.
That does look pretty sweet!!!
Very nice!

Thanks again for the kind words guys. That fox pelt in the second pic is gonna be a quiver one if these days if I figure out the best way to do it...y'all got any tips or links/info on how to go about making that happen?
I'm pretty handy when it comes to most things but I'd hate to screw up that pelt going into it blind.
Awesome
I really like it. Ya dont see many bow racks like that around. Very cool.
That awesome, how are the feet attach to the board?
I am contemplating doing this as I have some fallow deer feet in the freezer. I was thinking epoxy some threaded rod into the leg bone ?
Cheers
Mark.
Looks great:)
Sweet!!
Hey Mark...I didn't do the feet on this one but I asked the wife and did a little searching around about how it's done. You will have to buy some feet forms from a taxidermy supply co. The legs will have to be skinned out down to the hoofs then you make a cut there. The leg bone will be removed. The skin will then have to fleshed and dry preserved. Then you sew the skin on the forms and bolt them through the back of the board. Hope this helps. Good luck. Let's see some pics when you get it done.
Turned out great!
Now that looks good. Those Widows really set it off too.
looks great
Thank for the info shag.
I was going to skin the feet out and chuck the whole lot, bone, skin and hoof into a tanning solution then sew it back up and set it at the angle I want.
Cheers
Mark.
