Title: dreams of the tradgangers?
Post by: nampook93 on March 23, 2014, 01:55:00 PM
Everyone has a dream, whether you have been able to accomplish your dream or not. So what is your dream, and have you been able to accomplish it yet?

The beauty of a trout stream, the surreal ness of the woods, the coolness of the mountains. I dream of traveling around America, and enjoying what god has created and thanking him in prayer is what I hope to do some day.

Overall, I feel really Blessed... Right now my dream is for my wife and I to get back our health. We lost a battle with an 18 wheeler that ran a red light. Heaven knows it could have been a lot worse but it sure has stifled us. Our sons have made a full recovery so that is a Blessing by itself.

I hope that everyone's dreams come true at some point in your life. Don't wait until tomorrow to fulfill your dreams. There are no guarantees that tomorrow will be rolling around for any of us. God Bless you and your dreams.

Mine is similar to Cody's, be able to have enough money to go on hunting trips while not having no time limits. If you waiting for retirement, you hope your health is good enough to go.

God has blessed me and my immediate family over the years.  Our physical as well as our mental health is very good.  I often thank God as I run up a flight of stairs that he gave me a strong heart and legs.  I was also blessed with a few skills that have taken me through life with very little suffering.  My bowhunting career is just a bonus but what a bonus it has been.  Whitetails almost every fall, bears, mule deer, elk, antelope, Africa and several trips to Canada.  Yep I am a blessed man with a great wife and kids.

I am another who has been blessed in many ways.  I always dreamed of an early retirement and was able to do that,  allowing me to now travel and hunt more than any person deserves.  Last fall I filled another dream with the bull elk of a lifetime.

I count my blessings every day,  but still continue to dream of what might come next.  Dreams keep us alive and vibrant,  and I hope to leave this world with at least some unfilled.

Good question... My dreams have come through, great lady for a wife, three daughters with husbands I really like, one grandson and probably more coming, health and time to spend doing the Trad life. God has given me a life far better than I ever expected.

I had to think a while before I started typing. I'm certainly guilty of dreaming about things. I would love to chase elk again, or hunt Africa.

But truly I'm already living my dream. I have a wife and two children that hunt with me, not to mention my TBG buddies that I shoot and hunt with.

The Good Lord has truly been so good to me. We don't have lots of money, but we're happy, healthy, and spend our free time doing what we love. That's enough for me.

Thank you guys for sharing your dreams. I'm sorry for those that have lost some one dear. And that you guys have such amazing dreams. And I hope they come true if they haven't already.

I realized one of my long-term dreams.  Bought 20 acres and a log home out in a rural hill-top and have deer and grouse on my own property to hunt.  Two small creeks but no trout (they don't make it up quite this far) but it's a short drive to some famous trout waters - closer to some unknown and preferred spots with wild brookies -  and much closer to some great smallmouth bass spots.

Plenty of stumps to be perforated.

I see myself running through a graveyard,
             searching for my soul....
Running faster and faster,
          but never finding my goal....
I reach the center,
        a small circle of stone....
I see headstones by the thousands,
       but each standing alone....
I hear a soft whisper,
     calling my name....
I know I will search forever,
never finding from where it came.

I would love to hunt out my backdoor.  My land or public. Just want the ability to hit the woods when I need to.

I would like to have the time and money to travel a bit more, including both distant hunting trips and many more 3D tournaments. I would especially like to go up north and to the mid-west.

Time has a way of sneaking up on us. I thought about it last weekend when a bluebird flew down our stove pipe and I had to pull the woodstove out from the thimble to get him out. I built that woodstove over 20 years ago and I picked it up and loaded it in my truck by myself. That stove liked to whooped my butt just moving one foot to free a trapped bird!!!
Well, I can't complain. I'm a cancer survivor, I've been steadily employed for 35 years, married for 34 years and together we raised a wonderful son who does not hunt but was exposed to archery and I hope when he gets time out from work someday he will come back to it. I hunted all I could and went out of state on hunts with my buddies when I was younger but life had a way of rearranging my priorities and now I'm edging ever closer toward the reality of retirement and the huge adjustment that will be unless I can continue to work at something. I worry that when I do retire I may be too worn out to do anything I want to do, that all of that work I did only will bring me to that point. It is a bittersweet trade-off for many, we have all seen it happen. But the best we can do is just try an stay in shape and do what we can. As Caughtandhobble said none of us is guaranteed anything. I guess for me anyways that I am very thankful for what I have and the opportunities that were afforded to me such as they are. I would not want any "do overs" on anything but I might would have tried to do more though. Guess I'm living my dream and didn't know it.

I want to go on an Alaskan Drop camp caribou hunt with my son when he's old enough and before I'm too old. I'll be 40 in August and he just turned 8

Life in general I am living my dream. No I don't have lots of money but I do have the love of a good woman and two healthy daughters. I never knew this was my dream until I woke up and realized I was living it.
Now as far as my archery dreams.. I don't think I could type it all. I dream of far away places, seen by few. Leaving my blood sweat and tears on mountain tops and river valleys in adventures that even the best of outdoors writers couldn't imagine. This has been a great thread. I hope all your dreams come true.

I dream of moose. Don't know why but that is the animal that I dream about. Maybe someday but right now staying alive in a very dangerous career while keeping a wonderful wife and three little ones happy seems more important. Had a near miss early Sunday morning and it makes me think I should be chasing my dreams harder!

One hunt in a remote place, without guides, without needs to hurry and with my family, you know from hunting and fishing with the boys to bowhunt big game for myself. So, probably, my dream is close to the big sky and the sounds of the kookaburras in Australia

I have completed a few dreams so far, raising kids, working 40 years in some interesting jobs to include the Army 1973-1980, played Rugby for 18 years(can still walk), and traveling a fair bit.
But to the future again.........I look forward to retiring in October. Hope to do alot more Hunting,Fishing,Trapping and Landcruising. My wonderful Wife has agreed to do some long Car-camping trips around the country. Up and down the mountain ranges would be nice! I want to develop our 45 acres into a nice recreation area to stay in shape. Lastly, I would like to persue my Master's Degree in BushCraft(Self Taught).LOL

1 of my goals is to learn to flint knapp and do a complete primitive setup and harvest a mature white tail! I'm talking a yew bow, obsidian points on ocean spray shafts! That should do! Then I'll think of another challenge !!

Many of my dreams have been fulfilled, but there is a whole list yet to checkoff!!  Moose, Caribou, Elk, and Buffalo all on the dream list. Property to live on, travel and being a positive influence on all those I encounter. The only thing left when you don't dream is death and many have died long before the grave. I want to keep dreaming and chasing them all my days!!!!

I have one or two hunting dreams.

I want to get that longbeard with my longbow.

An Antelope and an Elk are in there as well.

Other wise my daily goal is to follow His will for my love which means I need to learn to love others especially those I don't like.(challenging) but I know I can do it with His help.

God bless,Mudd

My dreams huh? Well I already shot the elk of a lifetime so that dream doesn't count. A couple others in no particular order: Guide for brown trout in Tierra Del Fuego for a few years, build drift boats for a living, live a life that glorifies God, wind up married with kids here in Montana. Simple suits me.

Going on an elk hunt with my dad. He's 54 and I'll be turning 20 in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately that's still about 3 years out at least. Other than that I'm hoping to go out west for grad school in 2015 and land a fisheries biology job.

I have been truly blessed , I have 4 great kids along with 5 great grandkids . the best Wife in the world who has what every woman wants : a contented husband . I've been on a lot of hunts on 3 continents and have been fortunate to have taken a lot of animals but I still dream of hunts for different game and for species I've already taken . My Goodwife asked me once why I needed to take a second wildebeest since I already had one . My answer was simple , first time I kissed her didn't stop me for wanting to do it again . After all the hunts I've been on I still get just as excited opening day of bow season here and haven't missed one in 46 years now . I might even get more excited now . I try to enjoy everything that comes along and thank God for the bad as well as the good , it's His will .

What is my dream?

Well.. I am a 24 year old man who has a beautiful wife, a beautiful healthy daughter, a warm place to lay my head, a dog, a few bows, we both have jobs that support us and our simple lifestyle.  I am very pleased with what the Lord has given me, i don't covet what others have, though some have very nice things, nice bows, nice arrows, etc.

I would love to hunt elk one day. I would love to hunt grouse.  I would love to do a lot of things, but they aren't my dream.  My dream would be to hear, "well done my good and faithful servant", at the end of my life.  That eclipses all other desires for me.

Wow, that pretty much sums it up for me.

I just wish I realized it at 24.

You made my day, Daniel...thank you.
