I was looking at bulk cat whisker material from a fishing supply company. I saw. Where they had round and square material? I think tge square is what I want, does anyone know if one is better suited than the other? Also I saw they had medium and fine Material. Does that make a difference? Thanks steve

I recently tried some peep sight tubing...
I separated the string bundles, and inserted three sections, top and bottom of the string.
About a half inch apart, and the pieces of tubing about 1 1/2" long.
I split the ends a bit with scissors...WORKS GREAT, and cheaper than buying the Catwhiskers in a package.
I'm pretty sure I bought the medium round, bout 80' for 20.00 delivered, lots less than 5.00 per set at the pro shop!

I remember someone on here saying that a bungee cord is full of catwhisker type material.

I had used the square (hula-skirt material and popper legs) with success. I imagine there is no difference betwee the round or square.
Bungees are full of such strands but it is white. Might be some black ones out there.
The lure skirt material comes in two sizes as well. Make sure that you get the smaller diameter strands.
Living Rubber Co. has what you need. 15 ft. for about $5 or $6.00. I like the medium size the best, but all sizes work well. It also does not weigh as much as the commercial catwhiskers.
I get mine from Lure-Craft and buy the Fine Living Rubber material and it works great. I use 2-1.5in pieces for each whisker and usually do a 2-color combination placed around 10 and 14in from the end of the string. Makes a nice, neat ball that does not slow down the string much but definitely helps to quiet and dampen it.
I get mine from Black Widow-maybe you could give them a call and find out where they get their bulk rolls from. They do work great, I use 2 sets doubled 1.375 inches each.
Get a bungee cord with the cloth covering. Remove the cloth wrap and you have bands of rubber that break down to Cat Whisker size bands.

Tried this today on your suggestion and made two whiskers for my new Holm Made Osprey. Worked really well. I cut them so that I've got 1" coming out of the string in each direction. Total weight was 35 grains per. The only thing I don't like is that they're white, but I can fix that.
I got the bugees in a mixed bag at Harbor Freight earlier this year... a dozen bungees for like $3.
I buy mine direct from Living Rubber by the pound. Only have to order every few years. A few dollars worth will keep the average archer supplied for a lifetime.
I get the round, medium. Haven't tried the fine, but this works great.
Biggest mistake I've seen with cat whiskers is using too much/leaving them too long. Bigger isn't always better. Too long and they make their own slapping noise.
Thanks everyone.. I ended up ordering from janns netcraft. I was able to get 5 different colors of one ounce each. Was only 1.62 each and 5.95 shipoing so not too bad.. they are 1 inch wide so I think im going to splice a 1/4" piece of. A different color in the brown or black.. and use it as an. Accent. I got orange and lime also.

So what is recommended , one inch sticking out of each side?? Also, do you guys just lay flat in separated string and twist it up or tie it in to the string with b50
Tie them on around the string so they can be moved for fine tuning.

I tied my bundle of rubber to keep it concise, but just slipping it between even number strand sof the string works fine. It stays put so I opted not to add extra string to tie it in. One inch or so out from center works great.. One thing that works well is taking your string length and dividing by 4 and dividing by 3...put a silencer at the quarter mark on the top of the string and a third mark on the bottom part of the string.
