Hey guys I am wondering how many of you can shoot equally left or right handed? Do you use a ambidextrous bow or simply shoot off the knuckle off the wrong side of a left/right handed bow? I found this old beauty and I started shooting it and started shooting with my off hand, which happens to be my left side. It is an old fred ambidextrous bear brown bear longbow. She may not be worth much but it is going to be a perfect bowfishing rig.

I have been really enjoying it and my left handed shooting isn't to far off either! I can see how being able to shoot either side would be very useful for hunting. I wondered how you guys manage to shoot with either side off of a bow that has only one shelf? self bow guys would have it made with their shelf-less bows as far as either sided shots go. Lets here your guys input! Enjoy SS
Started shooting LH last year and can honestly say my shooting is equal to my RH sessions. Don't even think about it anymore. Just pick up each bow and shoot. Took some time because my right eye would take over now and then but not anymore.
Started shooting right 2 years ago. Worth doing!
I have a pig nut flat limb that I set up to shoot both sides. A couple of times, the ability to switch hands has gained me a shot that turning my whole self would have meant trying to stand up and shoot the wrong way from a ladder stand and once on the ground with my back pinned to a tree while sitting on a strapon seat.
I'm right handed and left eye dominant and have shot lefty because of that during my teens and then when I got back into trad a couple years back. I work out and keep my arms and back strong on both sides and can draw any weight bow I can handle left handed also on my right side and shoot halfway decent that way as well. I have strongly considered ordering a dual shelf bow someday for my primary hunting bow.
I also am right handed but left eye dominate. I wanted to try lefty so I had Chad Holm make me a longbow with a dual shelf. I now also have a recurve from him built the same. I'm working on shooting from both sides and it's coming along well.
I'm right handed but left eye dominant so i shoot a lefty bow. I got into archery by taking some lessons at a range near my house. It took a few visits to figure out if i liked shooting left or right better. In the end i picked shooting left because it just felt more natural.
I am right handed, and switched to lefty because of an eye injury.
Just recently bought a RH bow to keep my muscles balanced out better. I can feel the difference.
Shooting with either hand is just another challenge.
My next bow from HHA will be an Ambi. Tembo.
I shot both sides for awhile and really improves your strength....
And I'm also right handed and left eye dom.
The hardest part lefty was just nocking the arrow.
The hardest part of going lefty for me was ducking through cover without hanging up the back quiver on sticks. I had to learn to lead with the other foot.
Pavan...I can't get used to a back quiver left handed. Just doesn't feel right to me so when I hunt with my Fedora, I use the Catquiver.
I shoot both right handed and left handed all the time which is a great excuse to own more bows...I have a dual shelf that is based on a blank and another that is soon to be on its way to me

I am cross eyed and I can shoot with both eyes or I can shut them both. :dunno:
